Katy Perry began her ‘Prismatic’ tour in Northern Ireland on May 7, and part of her show is a tape of her puking up — and then playing around with — a whole mess of paint. Is she copying Lady Gaga? Click through to watch it happen!
Oh, Katy Perry. Why? The 29-year-old singer kicked off her Prismatic tour in Belfast in Northern Ireland on May 7, and part of the show features a tape in which you see her sticking her finger in her mouth in an almost sexy way, and then vomiting paint everywhere. Green paint! If you’re getting a sense of déjà vû, you’re not wrong for it — this was Lady Gaga‘s move during her performance at the SXSX Festival on March 13. Is Katy stepping on Lady Gaga’s game once again? And is this something that really begged to be replicated?
Katy Perry Pukes Up Green Paint During ‘Prismatic’ Tour — Did She Copy Lady Gaga?
Lady Gaga was roundly criticized for glorifying bulimia when she brought performance “artist” (not apologizing for those quotes) Millie Brown on stage during her performance of “Swine” at SXWX to chug a bottle of a weird green liquid and then puke it all over her fellow connoisseur of art.
Katy Perry Is Being Irresponsible By Glorifying Bulimia
Not only was Katy similarly irresponsible by showing her impressionable young fans that puking is easy fun for everyone, it was also similarly… similar.
This isn’t the first time that Katy has been accused of coping Lady Gaga — and the most recent, memorable time it happened, it was by Lady Gaga herself! She tweeted on May 8 that “It looks like green hair and mechanical horses are the thing now,” clearly referring to Katy’s tour which had debuted the day before.
Honestly, this part of Katy’s tour should really be pulled. We’ve always thought of Katy as a positive role model for her young fans, and this seems way out of character for her. We’re sure she didn’t intend to glorify a serious eating disorder, but it’s so important that she respond to these criticisms.
HollywoodLife.com has reached out to Katy’s rep for a statement but has yet to hear back at the time of publishing.
So, HollywoodLifers, what do you think? Is Katy copying Lady Gaga? And is she glorifying bulimia? Let us know!
