Audra McLaughlin was one of Blake Shelton’s most prized singers, but on May 6, she was sent home from ‘The Voice.’ Not only were fans shocked, but the country girl herself could not believe it — Audra broke down in tears, after her elimination.
The Voice is getting cutthroat! Three contestants were sent home last night, including Audra McLaughlin. HollywoodLife.com spoke with Audra backstage, after she was voted off, and she couldn’t stop crying. Keep reading for our EXCLUSIVE interview. We’ll miss you, Audra!
Audra McLaughlin Sent Home From ‘The Voice’
It’s still hard to believe that Audra McLaughlin, Sisaundra Lewis and Delvin Choice were sent home from The Voice on May 6, but Audra seems to be taking it the hardest.
The young college student stunned throughout the season with her country-singing pipes, and her coach Blake Shelton was impressed by her every step of the way. At one point in the competition, Blake said that she’s better than any professional country singer out there, and when Audra made it into the Top 10, Blake complimented her performance, saying that she just had a huge moment. Shakira also chimed in, telling Audra that she’s “not going anywhere.”
Unfortunately, Audra is going somewhere — home.
When she was placed in the bottom four, Blake pleaded America to give her the Instant Save, but it wasn’t enough. “This girl is a world class vocalist,” he begged.
Audra McLaughlin — ‘I Am Sorry That I Let You Down’
Right after Audra was eliminated, HollywoodLife.com caught up with her to see what her next plans were. A clearly distraught Audra told us, “I would love to start recording and get signed out of this and do what I love…I am very grateful for this moment.”
With the amazing voice that she has, we’re sure she will be signed in no time, but backstage, Audra was fighting through her tears.
“To all my supporters, I am sorry that I let you down,” she EXCLUSIVELY told us. We assured her that she didn’t let anyone down, and that we are big fans!
Audra also admitted that she had a feeling she would be voted off. “I was upset all night and all day,” she EXCLUSIVELY told us. “I will miss that stage. I will miss The Voice.”
HollywoodLifers, let us know if you’ll miss Audra, too! Did she deserve to get sent home?
