Lupita Nyongo’o At Met Ball — Get Her Colorful Makeup
Makeup artist Nick Barose worked with the new Lancôme Ambassadress. Together they created a purple smokey eye, bold pink cheeks and bronzed lips.
The overall inspiration was a “modern-day Josephine Baker.”
To start, Nick applied Lancôme Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate and Lancôme La Base Pro Perfecting Makeup Primer to Lupita’s skin.
He used Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Foundation in 500 Suede C and set it with Lancôme Dual Finish Powder & Foundation in 500 Suede C.
For a pop of color on her cheeks, he used Armani Maestro Blush 300 and Armani Cheek Fabric 509.
For her colorful eye look, he used Lancôme Color Design Eye Shadow in Miss Sweetheart D. To define, he added Lancôme Aquatique Waterproof Eyecolour Base and Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara in Black.
On her brows, he used Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre.
For her shiny pout, Nick mixed Lancôme Le Lipstique Lip Colouring Stick in Sheer Chocolate and Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Lipcolor in Bordeaux.
Lupita Nyong’o’s Purple Hair — The Exact Inspiration Behind The Look
Lupita’s hair was styled by Ted Gibson. He told HollywoodLife.com:
“Lupita Nyong’o — the most beautiful woman in the world. This woman is so inspiring to me! After seeing her Prada dress and Cartier headpiece, I knew I had to make her hair something special. I love this French roll because it has a regal feel to it. To make the look modern, I colored her hair in a purple hue to compliment the green feathers and stones in the dress.
To achieve this look, I started off with ultimate shine products and rubbed those into her hair. I then added pieces for the French roll, connecting the extensions with gel and hairspray. As always, I finished off the look with holding spray to keep it all in place. Lupita proves that no matter your hair texture, color, or length — hair is art!”
Lupita Nyong’o’s Neutral Mani — Her Exact Polish
Celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann told HollywoodLife.com about the look:
“Lupita’s dress was a beautiful green, which offered a nice contrast to the hint of purple in her hair and makeup. We felt a full purple would be right on the nails. We then created a modern effect, layering green underneath iridescent lilac, allowing the nails to change colors as she moved. We matched the fingers to the toes and finished with a super shiny top-coat. Her hunter green shoes sparkled with jewels and the dress was so spectacularly glitzy, it created a beautiful effect!”
To get the look, start with a deep hunter green polish. To get Lupita’s custom look, layer on an iridescent lavender shade. Seal with a top coat.
