Naya Rivera Not Fired From ‘Glee’ — But Will She Return?
Naya Rivera has reportedly been kicked off of Glee’s Season 5 finale, which airs on Tuesday, May 13, but that doesn’t mean that she’s been booted from the show indefinitely.
“There is no truth to the rumor Naya has been fired from the show,” FOX released in a statement to The Associated Press Saturday night. The network added, “She remains under contract to Glee.
Although Naya is still under contract and hasn’t yet been fired, that doesn’t mean she will return to Season 6. Her character Santana Lopez was originally slated to be in the final episode, titled “The Rachel Berry Project,” and was written out of the finale, after all.
“The rumors of Naya being written off the finale are definitely true but the chance of her returning next season or being added in last-minute is a great possibility,” HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY previously reported. Our Glee insider added, “The key to Naya’s return — a big fat apology.”
“The power of ‘I’m sorry’ can go a long way in this situation,” our source said. “Naya has to be the bigger person and really get everyone’s trust back. It’s too late for the finale but next season is a whole different situation.”
No word yet if Naya did apologize, but it looks like the network might be sticking behind her — at least for now.
Why Was Naya Rivera Kicked Off Of ‘Glee’ Season Finale
Rumors were buzzing that Naya Rivera was kicked off of Glee, due to an on-set fight with costar Lea Michele, but HollywoodLife.com dismissed those rumors, reporting that Lea had nothing to do with Naya’s fate.
Now, we know that Naya still has a chance for Season 6, but what caused her to get the boot from the Season 5 finale? Apparently, it came down to an altercation with the producers.
“Lea didn’t even know that Naya complained, if that did in fact happen,” our source revealed. “She [Naya] showed up to the set in really bad shape — she’s been acting more and more erratically on set. She went off on one of the producers on the show and they got really upset with her and it escalated from there.”
