It’s the holiday season in the Duggar household! On the April 29 episode of ’19 Kids & Counting,’ the entire family gets packed up and heads to Washington, D.C to spend the holidays with Josh and Anna. Thankfully, the couple planned ahead and are able to prepare a meal for all 25 people!
The Duggar Family hit the road once again and traveled to Josh and Anna‘s home in Washington, D.C for the holiday week. On this brand new episode of 19 Kids & Counting, the family surprises Josh and Anna by arriving a day ahead of schedule. Throughout the week, the family enjoys plenty of quality time together and even plan a sweet surprise for Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar.
’19 Kids & Counting’ — The Duggars Surprise Josh & Anna
While Josh and Anna thought they had one more day to prepare for the entire family’s arrival, they receive a call from Jim Bob that the family is WAY ahead of schedule. In fact, they are only a few hours away!
After the initial onset of panic, Anna went into overdrive and somehow managed to cook an entire holiday meal for 25 people before they arrived. Talk about having super powers! However, Anna could not prevent the smoke detector from going off just as the family was walking through the door. Oops!
Jim Bob said, “When we showed up at Josh and Anna’s, I was expecting to just walk in and smell the turkey cooking and all the wonderful holiday smells.Instead, there was smoke going everywhere and I wondered, ‘Maybe I should be looking for a fire extinguisher’?”
Poor Anna, that is a lot of pressure to cook for that many people. But, she still managed to pull it off — smoke alarm or not.
Luckily everything else went smoothly, and her cooking received rave reviews from the entire family.
The Duggar Girls Work On Their Book While The Boys Plan Sweet Surprise
The eldest Duggar girls have been hard at work on their book, Growing Up Duggar. For the book, the girls logged over 200 hours of audio recording. While they had downtime in D.C. for the holidays, they worked really hard to get it finished.
The book, which is already available in book stores everywhere, is all about their courtships and experiences growing up in such a large family. Each girl was responsible for recording her own story, but Jill was given the task of recording the rest of their book since the sisters all deemed her the “best fit.”
While the girls were busy recording, Josh was recruited by his younger brothers to help them plan a sweet surprise for their parents. The kids wanted to surprise Michelle and Jim Bob by putting on a dinner theater show!
Josiah, 17, takes the lead and decides that they should make a short movie based on the parable of the Good Samaritan.
“I think it’s a very creative idea that they have for the dinner theater, and I think my parents will really enjoy that, and I just want to help them in as many ways as I can, I think.” Josh said. The eldest Duggar was then of course asked to play the part of the Samaritan, which involved him being hit by his younger brothers and falling to the ground — in the snow.
It was very nice of Josh to help the boys, and was a great excuse for all of them to have some bonding time.
Jordyn, Mackynzie, & Josie Turn 4
In celebration of Jordyn turning 4, Anna and Michelle planned a trip for her to The Sugar Cube. They also brought along Josie and Mackynzie, because the girls were all born within a year of each other! This is exciting, because it means they all get to celebrate their birthdays together. They will always be able to share that bond.
During their visit to The Sugar Cube, the girls had the exciting experience of making homemade chocolate truffles. It was a messy job, but they had so much fun, and they also got to lick chocolate off of almost everything for the whole visit!
It was so cute to see the little girls having fun together and making chocolate. Poor Michelle and Anna quickly saw the effects of the candy on the girls though, who began to bounce off the walls and proceed to get chocolate all over themselves!
Sadly the week came to a close very quickly for the Duggars. Time just flew by!
Luckily, they got in one more family activity before their visit came to a close. Josh surprised everyone on their last night and announced that they were going to go ice skating. How fun!
Watching all 25 Duggars try to ice skate at once was so cute! Of course some of the little ones had a hard time at first, but soon everyone was skating like a pro. Seeing all of the kids hug and say goodbye was really heartwarming and you can see just how close this family really is. Hopefully they will be reunited again very soon!
