‘Grease Live’ Coming To FOX In 2015

John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John became bonafide movie stars in 1978 when Grease hit theaters. Now, the iconic musical is making its way to television, and it’s sure to be even better than summer love!

On Monday April 28, FOX announced that they’re heading to Rydell High for the live made-for TV musical Grease Live!

“From Broadway to film, and across generations, Grease is one of the most beloved musical stories ever told – and we can’t wait to bring it to our air in a spectacular live event,” said Shana C. Waterman, Senior Vice President of Event Series for FOX, in an official statement. “Its iconic characters and addictive songs make it the perfect fit for FOX, and we’re going to give it the kind of star power and production quality to make every Sandy, Danny, Rizzo and Kenickie out there want to get up and sing along.”

No word yet on who will be cast as the famous couple Sandy and Danny, but the network promises to bring the T-Birds and Pink Ladies to life.

Grease Live continues the latest craze of live TV musicals, following in the footsteps of NBC’s wildly successful The Sound Of Music: Live!, which starred Carrie Underwood in 2013. FOX’s original adaptation of Grease is set to premiere in 2015.
