Bryan Greenberg is teaming up with the Olevolos Project for the third year in a row! On May 3, he will be hosting a brunch to raise money for the charity — 100 percent of the sales and silent auction goes to the children in Olevolos, a village in Tanzania! He spoke with HollywoodLife.com exclusively about his new project and about working with his fiancée!
Whether you know Bryan Greenberg as an actor or a musician, one of the most important things to him is the Olevolos Project, a charity that sponsors Tanzanian children so they can get an education. He spoke out to HollywoodLife.com all about it, as well as working with Jamie Chung, his soon-to-be wife, as well as his co-stars from One Tree Hill and his other acting gigs!
Bryan Greenberg On Olevolos Project
“The Olevolos Project means a lot to me. I’m pretty involved with it,” Bryan told us in a new interview. “In 2010, I went to Tanzania with some friends on safari. I was blown away by the exotic animals I was seeing up close. But surprisingly what shocked me more was the level of poverty the people were living in. We take for granted how good we have it here in the states.”
He went on to explain that his cousin Dory Gannes had already created the Olevolos Project, so he had to start throwing fundraisers to do anything to help. “The money raised goes directly towards the children’s education, housing, food, and clothes,” he said.
On May 3, he’s hosting the third annual brunch for the project, with the committee’s support — and we couldn’t help but notice two names on the list were Hilarie Burton and James Lafferty, Bryan’s co-stars on the show, One Tree Hill.
“I made great friends with Hilarie and James, so I just reached out to them. I love that they support The Olevolos Project. Those two are the best!” he told us, adding that his co-stars from October Road, How To Make It In America and Unscripted all pitched in, too!
Bryan On Working With Fiancée Jamie Chung
Bryan is a lucky guy — he proposed to actress Jamie Chung over the holidays and when they’re not wedding planning, they’re working together!
“Jamie supports the charity by finding sponsors and doing press,” he shared with us, adding that they’ve also done some work together on-camera. “She came in to do one day on A Year And Change and it was amazing. We love working together — it’s so easy it just flows. There’s a real chemistry, that can’t be faked. We are in talks to do another project that, if it happens, we’ll announce soon. I have a lot of respect for her as an actress, and it’s a true honor to get to work with her on projects.”
We love it! You can purchase tickets to the Olevolos Project brunch and help support the cause here.
