Young Mother Stabs Infant Son To Death
A horrific story has emerged from Northern California after an infant boy was stabbed to death by his mother on Sunday, April 27.
Police were called to a secluded area of Del Valle Regional Park in San Francisco after someone reported a woman “acting erratically” and ramming her car into a rock wall.
When police arrived, they found the damaged Honda with it’s engine running and an empty car seat in the back, but there were no passengers. After two hours, the police prepared to have the abandoned car towed because they could not locate a driver. That’s when Ashley emerged from inside the park holding her lifeless son in her arms.
The baby boy suffered from multiple stab wounds, and although police tried to revive him it was far too late. The seven month old was declared dead at the scene.
Police arrested Ashley after she told the officers she had stabbed the baby, according to ABC News. Ashley is being held on suspicion of murder and is due to appear in court on Tuesday, April 29.
Ashley May Have Suffered From Depression
Police in the area have been reaching out to Ashley’s family and friends to figure out why she would ever commit such a heinous crime.
So far, detectives have been able to determine that Ashley suffered from depression and was suicidal, according to Patch.
When Ashley and her son appeared in the park, she also suffered from knife wounds to her wrists which may have been her attempt at suicide.
Even though investigators believe Ashley acted alone in murdering her son, they are continuing to interview her and witnesses for more details.
Ashley’s son will also undergo an autopsy for further investigation.
