Last time on ‘Resurrection’, we watched in horror as Deputy Carl and Gary kidnapped Rachael and dragged her off to a cabin in the woods. On the April 27 episode, scarily titled ‘Schemes of the Devil,’ Tom, Bellamy and Fred set out to hunt for Rachael, as her situation takes a turn for the worse. Will they reach her in time?
Tonight’s episode of Resurrection had us on the edge of our seats the entire time! Find out what happened during the suspenseful April 27 episode right here.
‘Resurrection’ Recap: ‘Schemes Of The Devil’ — Does Rachael Die?
The episode picks up where it left off, in the cabin, where Carl and Gary give Rachael the third degree about her resurrection. The joke’s on them, however, because Rachael doesn’t really have any answers — she’s as clueless as they are! But she is clever. She threatens to come back and haunt Gary if he kills her. This thought is sufficiently terrifying enough for Carl and some of Gary’s buddies, who try to convince him to set her free. But Gary just starts rambling about the devil and his friends leave.
Meanwhile, Bellamy and Pastor Tom are desperate to find Rachael. They pay a visit to Jacob to see if he might have the power to sense her but he says he’s scared and he can’t help them. Then Bellamy and Tom turn to Sheriff Fred for help but he says they have no proof that she was kidnapped and that she didn’t just mysteriously vanish like Caleb did. They seem to have awakened his suspicions though because when he sees Carl acting shady, Fred flips out and slams him up against a locker!
Fred heads to the cabin with Carl to find Rachael, where he meets Tom and Bellamy, who have also managed to track the kidnappers down. That’s when things really heat up. Gary holds Rachael at gunpoint in a suspenseful stand-off that doesn’t end well — because Rachael ends up getting shot!
I had hopes that she would survive but sadly Rachael dies in the arms of her former love, Tom, in a tearful, heart-wrenching scene. Gary says he’s “sorry,” but obviously the damage has been done. An ambulance arrives and carries Rachael off in a body bag. But is this the last we’ll see of her or will she return from the dead a second time??
‘Resurrection’ Recap: An Epidemic Hits Arcadia
Meanwhile, Jacob makes a mysterious new friend named Jenny, who is wearing a 1950s style dress that got me thinking that she might be a ghost and that Jacob has an “I see dead people” sixth sense. Lucille can see her, however, so forget that theory. Still, something is definitely off about this little lady. Later, Jacob gets upset when his mom tells him that he has to stay home, and he runs away to find Jenny.
Henry and Lu go searching for Jacob and when they find them, he introduces them to Jenny and her parents are reveals that they are “like him.”
Meanwhile, Maggie and her NIH associate, Dr. Ward, are still studying their undead patients, and they make several shocking discoveries — including the fact that Jacob’s blood has the ability to cure cancer! Dr. Ward tries to persuade Maggie again to come to Maryland with him so they can continue their research but she is still determined to stay with her patients. She takes a moody stroll through the graveyard to visit her mother’s grave, and that’s when she finds out that Rachael has been murdered.
Fred returns to the station and delivers the bad news and his secretary is quick to blame the returned for causing all this chaos. But then she gets a call and tells Fred that she has to go because her sister is back — from the dead!
Then a man wanders into the station, asks what year it is and wonders what the heck that thing on the desk is (that would be a computer.) At this point, it becomes clear that all hell is about to break loose.
Cut to Bellamy, who is driving in his car and talking to Maggie on the phone, when he comes across a woman in the road — and it’s Rachael!
Cut to a young soldier who walks into the bar and asks if he’s in Korea. The phones calls are pouring in at the sheriff’s office and Fred suddenly takes off to drive home. When he’s stopped by a utility truck, he gives up on driving and straight up runs home, where he finds Maggie crying at the table. He starts crying too — they are devastated that Maggie’s mom has not come back to them. Then Maggie suddenly gets an idea. She goes to Sam’s house and asks, “Is she here?” Sam moves to the side to reveal a woman with blonde hair — Maggie’s mother! WHOA!
