Fans won’t have to wait around to meet the mother on ‘How I Met Your Dad’! Meg Ryan has been tapped to voice the mom in the upcoming ‘HIMYM’ spinoff. How exciting!
Meg Ryan has signed on to narrate the story of How I Met Your Dad, in an unseen role similar to that of Bob Saget‘s on How I Met Your Mother. Are YOU excited that the popular ’90s actress — or at least her voice — will be making a comeback?
Meg Ryan In ‘How I Met Your Dad’ — Actress To Voice Mother In ‘HIMYM’ Spinoff
Meg will be serving as the voice of the all-grown-up Greta Gerwig, who was cast as the mom in the HIMYM spinoff in February. Greta (and Meg, sort of) will play Sally, who has been described as an unhappily married woman with a Peter Pan complex.
Masters of Sex’s Nick D’Agosto, Mixology star Andrew Santino, Animal Practice’s Drew Tarver and The Crazy Ones star Tiya Sircar will also star in the show, according to our sister site Variety.
Meg proved she had a stellar set of pipes when she famously faked an orgasm in the middle of a diner in 1989’s When Harry Met Sally, so we’re sure she’ll do an excellent (though likely less enthusiastic) job!
If you’re disappointed that Meg won’t be appearing on the show, you can also look for her in a new pilot that she’s working on with NBC.
‘HIMYM’ Reunion: Will Cast Appear On ‘How I Met Your Dad’?
If you’re wondering whether any of the cast members from How I Met Your Mother will show up on the spinoff, we’ve got some more good news for you. Alyson Hannigan has revealed that she just might stop by the set.
“Sure,” she said, when asked by PopSugar if she’d want to make a guest appearance on the spinoff.
“I know nothing about the spinoff. But [HIMYM co-creator Carter Bays], I think had been pretty adamant that he doesn’t want us to have anything to do with it,” Alyson told IGN. But there’s hope! “I’m just going to be an extra,” she added.
So HollywoodLifers, are YOU excited that Meg will be lending her voice to How I Met Your Dad? Let us know!
