Lily Allen Disses Rihanna In Wild ‘Sheezus’ Video – Watch

Wed, April 23, 2014 12:27pm EDT by 16 Comments

Leave it to Lily to strike every major pop princesses nerves in all the right places! The video for her new single, ‘Sheezus’ is out and taking many prisoners with its witty rhymes, great beat, and ridiculous visuals. Read on to watch!

Kanye West is only the first person Lily Allen pokes fun at in her new video for her single, “Sheezus.” The song, clearly a play on words with Kanye’s Yeezus, also teases Katy Perry, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Lorde and even Rihanna! You don’t want to miss it.

Lily Allen Takes On Rihanna & More With ‘Sheezus’

With a hilariously playful vibe, Lily’s video is her return to the music scene after the birth of her daughters, Ethel Mary, 2 and Marnie Rose, 15 months.

In the song, she acknowledges that the game has changed and gives a few examples, “RiRi isn’t scared of Katy Perry’s roaring, Queen Bey’s gone back to the drawing. Lorde smells blood, yeah, she’s about to slay you… kid ain’t one to f**k with when she’s only on her debut.”

If you think this is going too far, could you possibly expect less from a song whose entire second verse is devoted to periods? (And we don’t mean the punctuation.)

While these lyrics could be considered disses to the artists, we don’t think that’s Lily’s aim here at all. What she’s really doing is admitting she’s been away from the scene for awhile and acknowledging that the female pop competition she’s returned to isn’t going to be easy to beat. Nonetheless, no matter how awesome the other ladies are, she wants to be on top: “Second best will never cut it for the divas. Gimme that crown b***h, I wanna be Sheezus.”

Aside from the punchy lyrics and catchy melody, the video itself is very cool visually as well. It has almost a space vibe with Lily, 28, portrayed with certain illustrated cartoon-like features, like eyes made of gold glitter and scattered dashed lines across her face.

She’s totally hot and is a total pro. You’d never think this was her first song back from a break.

What about you, HollywoodLifers? What do you think of Sheezus? Let us know!

Yawn.
Has Lily been away? How can you tell? Same sing-song voice, same nursery rhyme style. Same lame, “controversial” lyrics.
Nowt new here, move along please.

This isn’t her first song back from a break. But yes, it’s a good song.

Who ever wrote this should be fired for sensationalist bull***. She’s not dissing any of the ladies in the song, she venerates them.

I completely disagree with the title and premise of this article. In NO way is she dissing any of the female artists she mentions. It’s her witty, almost sarcastic way of giving praise without pandering. I LOVE the song, LOVE Lily…. glad she’s back.

This was a flat-out poke at her fans – “What she’s really doing is admitting she’s been away from the scene for awhile and acknowledging that the female pop competition she’s returned to isn’t going to be easy to beat.”

No, she MEANS exactly what she seems to mean!!

I hate tabloids. It is infuriating how the make you feel such a need to stick up for your favorite celebrities. And it’s more infuriating that they make so much money off of it.

Your article is highly inaccurate! The song sheezus refers to Lily’s opinion on society playing female artists against each other in the music industry. The songs message is that female pop artists are a group and should not be put in competition. Lily has praised lady gaga, Rihanna and beyonce as well as lorde! The song is not a dis! And as for the album title! It’s not poking fun at Kanye west! It is a homepage! As she admires Kanye and wishes to be somewhat the female version!

It’s obviously not a dis to Katy, Gaga & Lorde however the Beyoncé & Rihanna references left it to the imagination.

Desperation at it’s worst… from the reformed Ecstasy dealer.. but I’m not judging. ;)

Sidenote: great beat, less than mediocre lyrics enveloped in Obvious desperation. It’s a no-go for me.
