Dr. Jennifer Arnold is finally cancer free and jumping head first into spending quality time with her adorable children, Will, 4, and Zoey, 2. ‘The Little Couple’ — Jen Finally Regains Her Strength
With one week to go until Will turns 4 and with Jen regaining her strength, things are in full swing with our favorite family! In order to spend some quality one-on-one time with their kids, Jen and Zoey have a tea party and plan Will’s party, while Bill takes the birthday boy to the pet shop to visit Grandma Nay-Nay.
Bill says, “Since we got home with Zoey, Jennifer has been dealing with some things, like chemotherapy. Will has been fortunate enough to see Jennifer without dealing with this horrible disease, Zoey hasn’t. So today, Jen’s going to spend time with Zoey and I’m going to take Will to work and teach him the ropes, but first, Jen was hoping that I would take care of some of the chores that need to be done.”
Will is growing up so quickly, and what better way to track his progress than by installing a growth chart in his room! Of course Bill is in charge of this task with the assistance of his little helper — Will, who has grown 2 full inches since he was brought home, less than a year ago.
Bill accurately describes his son,”Will’s like an eager assistant that doesn’t quite know what he’s doing, but he’s there for you.”
Jen Throws Zoey Her Very First Tea Party
Once Bill and Jen brought Zoey home, Jen was diagnosed with cancer and was not able to spend the amount of quality time with her new daughter as she would like. Now that Jen has regained some of her strength she is able to make up for some of that lost time by throwing Zoey a tea party and by planning Will’s upcoming birthday party!
Hannah, from Hannah Joy’s Cakes comes to the house to help Jen bring her vision for Will’s cake to life. Jen knows that her son loves cars, trains and animals so why not incorporate all of his favorite things into one delicious cake — we all know how much Will loves his sweets! Once Zoey and Jen have tasted all the flavors, they narrow it down to either vanilla or red velvet — yum!
Finally it was time for our favorite mommy-daughter duo to dress up and have a tea party! At first Zoey wasn’t sure about dressing up, but once Jen started to add on some fabulous accessories, Zoey couldn’t resist. Decked out in hats, sunglasses, white gloves and several strands of pearls the girls were definitely looking the part.
Jen described the elements that make up a great tea party,”I think a fun tea party, it’s a little bit of everything. It’s the food that you think of with the tea party, and tea, uncaffeinated tea with Zoey of course, but it’s also about the fun girly stuff, the sunglasses, the hats, the dress up part, and I enjoy those kinds of things.”
This party definitely had plenty of all these elements — especially the delicious finger sandwiches. Zoey was so cute during the tea party, while she may not have been in to the proper etiquette, she loved to clink her glass with her mom and say “cheers.” The cutest moment was when the ladies had finished their tea and Zoey and Jen fist bumped each other — so cute!
Bill Takes Will To The Pet Shop
While the girls were busy planning Will’s party and bonding, the boys headed to the family owned pet shop, Rocky & Maggie’s Pet Shop to visit Judy Arnold, or as Will calls her, Grandma Nay-Nay. Delivering chocolates from San Francisco, Will struggled to keep his notorious sweet tooth in check long enough to let Nay-Nay open her gift.
Bill said, “No sooner does she open the box, but Will’s hand is out and Nay-Nay is giving him a piece of chocolate. I guess that’s a grandmother’s prerogative, and Will knew it.”
Once Will has his fill of sweets, it’s time to head to the back of the store to do some cleaning up.
“He likes the idea of playing with the broom and watching the fur fly, but I don’t think he really gets that we want to corral it into a pile and dispose of the hair. He’s more of a thinker that he is a laborer, which is good. People that have short stature as a disability, you know, we are going to have to use our heads a little bit more.”
Will has such a great attitude about everything and seems to always be smiling and having fun. He and Bill have such a sweet relationship — we love watching them interact!
This day was all about bonding with their children, and Bill and Jen definitely did just that. You can see how genuinely happy both parents are when they are around their children, we are so glad that Jen’s strength is returning just in time for Will’s birthday — we can’t wait to see what is in store!
