One of Beyonce’s biggest fans, Chelsea Lee James, has unfortunately lost her battle with leukemia. The 15-year-old Australian girl became an internet sensation after Beyonce brought her on stage and serenaded her during a September 2009 concert in Sydney. The pair reunited at another concert in November 2013, which is when Beyonce called Chelsea her ‘beautiful angel.’ So sad.
Chelsea Lee James, 15, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, April 21. Just four years before her death, Beyonce changed Chelsea’s life for the better by bringing her on stage for an emotional serenade of her hit song, “Halo.”
Chelsea Lee James Loses Cancer Battle After Beyonce Meeting
It is a sad day for Beyonce and her fans.
The little girl that Beyonce brought on stage for an emotional “Halo” performance in Sept. 2009 during her “I Am… World Tour” stop in Sydney, Australia has lost her lifelong battle with cancer.
“Rip my baby going to miss you every day love your mummy daddy and all the kids xxxx,” Chelsea’s official Facebook page read on Monday, April 21. Chelsea was just 15 years old when she passed away, surrounded by friends and family after her condition deteriorated and she had to be rushed to John Hunter Children’s Hospital.
Chelsea Lee James was just 11-years-old when Beyonce surprised her by bringing her on stage, and the two continued to share a special bond for the remaining four years of Chelsea’s short life.
Chelsea & Beyonce Reunited Just 5 Months Before Her Death
In November 2013, Chelsea was invited backstage during Beyonce’s “Mrs. Carter World Tour” stop in Sydney.
The pair ran across the room and embraced each other before chatting and catching up “like old friends,” according to The Herald.
After their meeting, Beyonce sent a sweet text message to Chelsea: “My beautiful angel! Thank you for the pictures. You have no idea how happy you made me seeing you. I will see you next time I’m in Australia. Love, Beyonce.”
During the concert, Beyonce shouted Chelsea’s name after performing the Destiny’s Child hit song, “Survivor.”
