Nonsense! I did the same thing with both my daughters, as have MILLIONS of great dads through it time. It’s how dads bond with their kids in ways that moms don’t necessarily. And this guy is an ex-professional football player! So he’s that much MORE certain to catch that kid 99.999% of the time. I’d trust him throwing a two year old up and catching her way more than I’d trust Lauren Cox even watching a two year old. Her perspective is not attuned to what really matters in child rearing, and she clearly doesn’t get it. She’s just sensationalizing a very common moment because it’s a celebrity kid. It seems that over 61% agree so far. And I’m guessing with a bit more understanding and explaining, about 10-15% more would come
to join us 61% ers.

Sorry, no reason to risk a child’s life – there are better ways to have fun with your kids. Period.

Sorry, see no reason whatsoever to risk a young child’s life – there are better ways to have fun with your kids. Period.

if you consider him a bad father because of this then my father, stepfather and husband would also be bad fathers!!!!! please people give me a break, why don’t you leave these people alone and let them enjoy their kids while they are young. in a blink of an eye they are grown and out of the house. if they weren’t celebs nothing would have been said.

How is this newsworthy? The article headline should be taken off and in fact the writer should seek new employment.

I guess that makes just about every other father in the world bad. And every mother who did this even worse. Wow talk about news. Taking something so simple and blowing it up. I do not know how many times I have thrown my own in the air, and my uncles did the same with me when I was younger. Hopefully she has enough brains not to listen to news people on how to raise her kids. And to who ever wrote this article you need to call your dad, and uncles and let them know they abused you because they threw you in the air. And watch them laugh their butts off.

Hey people, I have an idea. Let’s do a POLL: Should Lauren Cox be fired from her job coz we don’t wanna hear about this crap she’s printing?

I don’t have Twitter but I see she has an account. To all those who have a Twitter account, please send protest tweets.

YOU PEOPLE ARE SICK!!! Why are you making a big deal over this? As someone quite rightly commented below: Get a life! It’s people like YOU, Lauren Cox, and vapid, vulture-like magazines such as this that causes so much destruction. Take down your idiotic POLL.

I’m sure he is not a bad dad, however…There is such a thing as internal decapitation. That is when the spinal cord is injured without the loss of one’s head,of the neck at the worst possible place. One way to think about it is that breaking the essential nerves
controlling the body. Shearing forces caused by a trauma to the upper neck cause a type of dislocation skull to the top of the spinal column. Essentially what happens is that the internal decapitation actually involves the tendons and ligaments that hold the turn your head without paralyzing yourself. I would say tone it down a little to the dad.

You would need much more force than that to cause an internal decapitation. Just because you read some NEJM article about it doesn’t make you an expert.

Joan, calm down. Everyone is freaking the f@ck out for nothing. She didn’t fall. Sure, she could have. The earth COULD quit spinning too. If the family is ok with it, which they obviously are because they are sharing the pic with the world, its fine.
