If you’re a fan of Live! With Kelly and Michael, your mornings are about to get a whole lot better because even more Michael Strahan is coming your way! The NFL hall of famer joined his new Good Morning America anchors on the morning of April 15, and they gave him a huge warm welcome — an alarm clock, candy and coffee included!
Michael Strahan Debuts On ‘Good Morning America’
April 15th certainly was a good morning for Michael Strahan! He made his big debut on Good Morning America where he’s officially joining as a part-time contributor, appearing on the top-rated morning show a few times per week.
Michael who is currently Kelly Ripa‘s cohost on Live! With Kelly and Michael, will be pulling double duty in the mornings, sitting in on both ABC shows. That’s a lot of work before 10:00AM! How will he survive? With coffee, of course.
When he stepped into the Times Square studio, Michael told Robin Roberts, Amy Robach, George Stephanopoulos and Lara Spencer that he watches them every morning and Lara thanked him by handing him a ginormous coffee cup!
“If I drink all of this, there will be one heck of a good morning, America,” Michael joked.
George, who commented on Michael and Kelly’s great relationship with GMA, also gave him an alarm clark to welcome him on board. Michael graciously accepted his gift, saying, “It’s a pleasure to get up early, because you guys have been so good to us as well, and Kelly and I really appreciate it.”
For his first assignment, Michael introduced DWTS send-off Cody Simpson for a segment with his ex-dancing partner, Witney Carson. Cody welcomed Michael with a wheel barrel full of candy. Sounds like a great gig to us!
Michael Strahan Announces ‘Good Morning America’ Gig — He Will Remain On ‘Live’
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Michael Strahan, confirmed that he would be joining GMA, days after Josh Elliott quit Good Morning America. Michael broke the news on Live! With Kelly and Michael on Wednesday, April 2.
“The big news is that I’m gonna be on GMA now,” Michael told his audience and “TV wife” Kelly, assuring everyone that he is not leaving her side.
“I just want everyone to know and you to know that no matter what, this is my number one priority, and you [Kelly] are my number one priority, and I would never do anything to jeopardize the quality of what I do here.”
Josh left the morning show, due to failed contract negotiations, after he reportedly asked for $10 million and was counter-offered with $5 million and decided to leave for NBC Sports. Josh was replaced with GMA‘s Amy Robach, who survived a public battle with breast cancer late last year.
Michael will also continue to work as an analyst for Fox NFL Sunday.
