So will she bring her Southern charm to crazy town? Keep reading to find out what Lizzie said about her fellow Real Housewives of Orange County, including Vicki Gunvalson, in this EXCLUSIVE interview!
‘Real Housewives Of Orange County': New Ladies In Season 9
Housewives matriarch Vicki Gunvalson returns to Bravo’s original franchise series The Real Housewives of Orange County on April 14 (9/8c), and she’s welcoming a new slew of ladies. Or is she?
Familiar faces Tamra Judge and Heather Dubrow also return, and three new ladies arrive in the OC — Lizzie Rovsek, Shannon Beador and a “friend of the Housewives,” Danielle Gregorio are all new to town and Lizzie gave us the scoop on the dynamic between the ladies. “Everybody is really putting their feelers out there to see what the other person is like, there’s a lot of testing going on, there’s a little bit of hazing going on,” Lizzie EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com. “There’s a lot of that experimenting going on within the group.”
The premiere episode will see Vicki in trouble with Briana again, as the mother daughter duo work out their differences over Brooks, after last season’s emotional reunion. Tamra has finally opened her gym and she’s working hard to stay in shape for her younger hubby Eddie — or else! Heather and her family are struggling to live in a small rental house, which is actually a massive mansion, but this is Orange County we’re talking about so her heart is set on moving into her new dream home. And, of course, we meet newbies Shannon and Lizzie!
Meet The New Housewife Lizzie Rovsek
Lizzie Rovsek is a former beauty queen bombshell so we can only imagine that she’ll spark some jealousy among her fellow cast mates (“I don’t want to be the one to say it, but I don’t know, maybe”)! She moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting, but now her priority is raising her two boys and possibly having a third with her husband. Lizzie is also the owner and designer of a swimwear company — how fitting that she landed in Orange County, the land of bikinis, pool parties and cat fights! Lizzie told HollywoodLife.com all about the new season in an EXCLUSIVE interview.
HollywoodLife.com: How did you get cast?
Lizzie: “Danielle [Gregorio] is a friend of mine. She invited me to a party at her house where some of the women were and that’s where I got approached.”
Why did you ultimately decide to join the show?
“I’m a very optimistic person and I just think I can bring something to the table that’s already not there. I thought it would be great for people to meet me and my family.”
Any hesitation about joining such a dramatic show?
“Absolutely. I was very hesitant in the beginning and my husband was a little hesitant. I’m not really a confrontational woman. I don’t really fight with other women or friends of mine. But we wondered why this project was brought to us, and we know that things happen for a reason, and why would God put this in front of us? We decided that it would be a fun adventure so we said yes, and here we go! I think any time you’re in the public eye, you put yourself in a place to be scrutinized and attacked. It comes with the territory. Along with the good, comes the bad. I just think you have to remember who you are and be strong enough, and raise your kids that way.”
Speaking of kids, you have two boys. Do you want a baby girl?
“We want more kids. Would it be fun to have a little girl? Absolutely. Would I be completely delighted with three little boys? Absolutely! It’s definitely a big topic on this season, talking about having another child, and we definitely 100% want more children. We’re not trying though because if we try, we get pregnant! It will happen.”
You were born in California, but you were raised in Kentucky. Are you a California girl at heart or do you still have that Southern charm?
“I think I’ve got a good mix of both. I was born in California and I moved with my family when I was 9 years to Kentucky on a horse farm and I grew up there and went to college at the University of Kentucky. I love my Kentucky roots, but I love Southern California. I’m lucky to have to best of both worlds.”
Are you less dramatic or more well-behaved than the other ladies since you were raised in the South?
“I am from a small town, but I don’t have a problem being dramatic.”
Is there one certain housewife who stirs up the most drama with you?
“Yeah, but I’m not going to say her name! Don’t get too comfortable with certain people being close. A lot of things change by the end of the season.”
Who are you the closest to from cast?
“Danielle. She’s a really good friend of mine. We hang out completely outside of the show. We went to Disneyland with our kids and she’s going to the Kentucky Derby with me.”
Vicki is the only original housewife in the entire franchise. Did she give you any advice going into the show?
“She really wanted to test me and haze me. She kind of picked on me a little bit. By the end of the season, she ends up giving me some great advice. You see the many colors of Vicki throughout the season.”
What do you mean by hazing?
“It’s like once you get into a new club or a sorority, the seniors are going to haze you and test you out a little bit. And that happens.”
