In 1989, ‘Field of Dreams’ set the bar high for sports films — and it’s been hard to beat. However, Kevin Costner believes that his new film ‘Draft Day’ could give it a run for its money!
On April 10, Kevin Costner talked to HollywoodLife.com exclusively at the premiere of Draft Day, a film about a general manager forced with a tough decision on the biggest day of the year for football.
Kevin Costner On ‘Draft Day’
“I love the movies I’ve been able to do, and if I didn’t think that this one had a chance to be like those [Field of Dreams], I wouldn’t have done it,” Kevin, 59, told us at Bud Light’s screening of Draft Day at Sunshine Landmark Cinema in NYC. “I felt like Draft Day had a real chance to take a place with the other great movies.”
Since it’s been 25 years since Field of Dreams and he’s now in a movie he really believes in, does that mean he’ll be doing this for another 25 years? Not so fast.
“Oh, I don’t know. I reserve the right to change my life; I don’t know where I’ll be,” the actor said. “But I love the journey I’ve had and when it comes to stories, I want to make sure they speak to me first.”
After the film, the stars headed over to the after party at FC Gotham where they drank Bud Light, Bud Light Avion Straw-Ber-Rita’s and other custom Avion cocktails.
Denis Leary On How He Gets ‘Cool Points’ With His Kids
Of course, Kevin also raved about his co-star — Jennifer Garner, and he wasn’t the only one to say how great she was! Denis Leary also chatted with us, telling us that she’s actually helping him gain cool points with his kids.
“I’m getting cool points tonight because my son and his friends are here and they’re all football fans,” the actor told us. “First he thought it was cool that I was in an NFL movie, and then he and his friends thought I was cool for being in a football movie with Jennifer Garner. So the shadow of Jennifer is making me cool tonight.”
Well, Denis — we think you’re cool regardless!
