‘Resurrection’ Recap: ‘Home’ — Rachael Gets Kidnapped
Caleb’s mysterious disappearance last week has Sheriff Fred stumped! The episode opens on him watching security footage of the moment Caleb vanished on repeat but he can’t seem to figure out what happened. Henry is also freaking out over Caleb’s disappearance. He tells Marty that he’s worried that Jacob will go missing as well. Lucille decides to watch over Jacob in bed that night in an effort to keep him safe.
Poor Henry! He was just beginning to accept the fact that Jacob was really back, and now he’s tortured by his fear of losing him all over again.
Fred searches Caleb’s cell for clues but comes up empty-handed. He goes to see Elaine to tell her that her father has disappeared and she isn’t that shocked, given all the other crazy things that have been happening lately. Fred tells her that he thinks of her as a daughter and that he doesn’t want her to get hurt. She says it’s probably for the best that Caleb is gone. Elaine looks at the urn on the mantel as her brother, Ray, shows up. He tells her that “that man” wasn’t really their father and she agrees.
Meanwhile, Marty and Maggie pay a visit to Rachael and he asks her what she was feeling in the moment she came back to life. She says all she wanted to do was go home, noting that she was surprised to feel that way because before her death, she and Tom wanted to leave Arcadia .
Maggie reveals to Marty that she called Dr. Eric Ward, an old friend who works at the National Institute of Health, to get his opinion on her returned patients. Marty doesn’t like that idea one bit. He thinks the government is the enemy and asks to talk to Dr Ward.
Fred comes into the diner only be harassed by a drunken Gary, who says that the returned aren’t human and slams the sheriff for not being out looking for Caleb.
Maggie and Marty go to her office and Eric is there. He and Maggie wonder whether the returned could be clones, but the fact that they have memories of their past puts a huge dent in that theory. Eric seems to be onto something and he tries to convince a suspicious Marty that he’s just there to help. He says that he sees a pattern in the returned that suggests that they all have a strange virus. Marty figures out that it might be possible to predict where the returned will show up and Erik says he wants to meet Jacob.
Tom goes to see Rachael and tells her that Caleb escaped. She tells him that she’s pregnant and he tells his wife, Janine, about it. She asks if Rachael is planning to keep the baby and Tom gets upset that she would even suggest otherwise. He tells her that he told Rachael that he wants to be there for the baby but that he’s determined to stay loyal to his wife.
‘Resurrection’ Recap: Arcadians Turn On The Returned
Marty, Eric and Maggie go to visit the Langstons and Erik seems impressed with Jacob’s memory and how well the family is handling his return. He says he wants them to go to the NIH facility with him. Marty is worried that Eric doesn’t have Jacob’s best interest as heart but Eric insists that he’s just trying to keep Jacob safe and stop him from disappearing. Henry later reveals that he called Eric to tell him that they would all come to the NIH.
Meanwhile, Janine is approached by Helen, who says she can see that Janine is troubled by something. She tries to get Janine to confide in her.
Fred goes to play cards at Paul and Paul shows the sheriff his gun room that his dad built. Paul suggests that he could start a militia if Fred ever needs to “step outside the law.”
Rachael is sitting in her hotel room when suddenly Helen shows up at the door! She tells Rachael that she’s a friend of Tom’s and Rachael trustingly lets her in. Helen tells Rachael that she’s destroying Tom’s marriage and she needs to get lost. Rachael panics and calls Tom, who doesn’t answer because he’s giving a sermon. She then calls Marty and tells him that she’s afraid Helen will do something bad during the sermon.
The Langstons decide to go to church and everyone stares at them. Tom candidly tells his congregation that they should feel free to share their thoughts about all the strange things that have been happening in Arcadia. One woman asks if Jacob’s return is a miracle. Others worry that Jacob could be dangerous. Tom says that even though people are afraid, they should not give in to their fear.
Gary says if the returned are all miracles from God, then how come Caleb was a killer. It doesn’t take long for all hell to break loose in the church. Rachael comes in and stands in the back and when Tom spots her in the crowd, everyone else turns around to look at her too. Tom tells everyone to calm down and says that we all need to stick together right now. Everyone applauds him but then Helen accuses Tom of hiding a dark secret and demands that he reveal the truth. When he falls silent, Helen does it for him! Poor Rachael is shocked and Tom admits that it’s true. Helen says he’s not a good paster and she marches out, with most of the congregation following her.
Meanwhile, at Maggie’s office, Eric asks her to come with him and the Langstons to the NIH and says that she could be at the forefront of the biggest scientific discovery of the century. She declines his invitation and says her main objection is to help people.
Tom tries to track Rachael down and confronts Janine about betraying him to Helen. Janine accuses Tom of still being in love with her and Tom remains silent. Janine says she’s going to stay with her sister for the night and he doesn’t stop her.
Rachael retusn to the hotel and Carl the deputy and Gary convince her to go with them to the station to meet Fred.
Fred comes home and takes a little white box out of his bedside table. He takes out a wedding ring and holds it up to the light, sighing. He then puts the ring in a coin tray.
Carl drives into the woods near the river and Gary gets out and opens Rachael’s door.He drags her out of the car and puts her in a cabin in the woods. Rachael appears terrified as they close the door.
