Though he didn’t name names, Ed suggested to Billboard that the song had everything to do with cheating Ellie.
“The story in ‘Don’t’ is 100 percent true. I could have gotten nastier – there was more s**t that I didn’t put in,” Ed said in his Billboard interview.
Ed looked like a man on a mission on stage performing, hitting every note, and not missing a beat. What better way to get back at the woman who cheated on you — sing it in a song so the whole world can know, right?
You can certainly tell by some of the lyrics in the song that Ed was not joking around. “I never saw him as a threat, ’til you disappeared with him to have sex,” Ed says in his song.“If I show courtesy and respect to someone, I expect to receive it.”
