‘The Face’ judge and model may have kept her head above the drama, (so far!), but reveals things are about to change in a BIG way! In fact, in an exclusive interview with HollywoodLife.com she told us all about the drama that’s brewing behind the scenes.
Season two judge on The Face, Lydia Hearst, 29, sat down with HollywoodLife at Observer Media’s Spring Fashion preview event with the magazine’s latest cover girl, Lydia herself, on April 3 in NYC, where she gave us an inside look at what she is doing to get her girls out of the elimination room and into the clear. She also clued us in on what the chemistry is really like between the judges this season — we have definitely seen our fair share of fights, especially between Anne V and Naomi Campbell! Does that mean Lydia plans on playing nice for the rest of the season?
Lydia Hearst — Fighting With Naomi Campbell On ‘The Face’?
So far Lydia says “her moment is yet to come” with the drama — but maybe not for long! “I am not typically one for confrontation, but if people are going to dish it out, they better be able to take it by the time I give it back,” she tells us. Uh oh! It sounds like Lydia’s claws are coming out — but at the end of the day, she tells us the judges are all close friends who have known each other for years, (despite the sometimes less than “friendly” competition on the show!). In fact, it was actually Naomi who inspired Lydia to become a model and she asked her to be a judge on the show! “We fight because we are all passionate about winning and care so much about our girls, but at the end of the day we all still have so much respect for each other,” she explains. We’re glad to hear that despite the cut-throat drama it didn’t interfere with their relationships.
Lydia Hearst’s Team — Her Strategy:
It’s no secret that Team Lydia has been in the elimination room more than any other team — especially in the last couple of episodes. We asked Lydia what kind of advice she has been giving her models to keep their heads in the competition. The beautiful models tells us that she uses a series of tactics that her parents used on her when she was beginning her career. By using positive reinforcements, she is trying to get them break out of their shells. “The one thing you can’t teach is courage, and unfortunately I keep having trouble getting through to them because they keep doubting themselves and they are nervous to drop their guards and just go for it.”
The last competition was the hardest on her modeltestants because they needed confidence to win — and unfortunately all the coaching in the world didn’t help! She joked, saying, “I never had trouble shaking my a*s, so it was hard to see them having trouble letting loose.”
