Just a day before her mysterious death on April 7, Peaches Geldof, 25, posted an eerie photo of her and her late mother, Paula Yates, who passed away in 2000 from a heroine overdose.
This tragedy continues to get more and more sad. The last photo that Peaches Geldof posted on Instagram before her death was a throwback of her as a little girl with her mother, broadcaster and writer Paula Yates. Paula passed away when Peaches was only 11 after depression had taken over her and she had turned to drugs.
Peaches Geldof’s Last Photo Was With Late Mother
“Me and my mum,” Peaches, 25, captioned the photo on Instagram shared on April 6. Of course it is an eerie thought and strange coincidence that this was the last pic posted since her mother passed away suddenly on September 17, 2000 at the age of 41, leaving her five children behind. Peaches was found on April 7 at her home in Wrotham, Kent, England, and authorities are still trying to figure out the cause of her untimely death.
Peaches also had two children of her own — Astala, 23 months old, and Pharedra, 11 months old. She also shared various photos with them the day before her death as well. In her final interview with Mother & Baby, she vowed to never leave her children, according to Daily Mail.
“Becoming a mother was like becoming me, finally. After years of struggling to know myself, feeling lost at sea, rudderless and troubled, having babies through which to correct the multiple mistakes of my own traumatic childhood was beyond healing,” she allegedly said. “I felt finally anchored in place, with lives that literally depend on me, and I am not about to let them down, not for anyone or anything.”
Peaches Geldof: How Did She Die?
It’s still a mystery what caused the sudden death of the young model. Police reported that her passing was “sudden” and “unexplained,” and according to to the Daily Mail, there wasn’t any drugs nor a suicide note found.
When her mother passed away, Peaches was only 11 and completely distraught.
“I couldn’t express anything because I was just numb to it all. I didn’t start grieving for my mother properly until I was maybe 16,” she reportedly told Elle Magazine in 2012, adding that she didn’t even cry at the funeral. However, she also spoke with Hello Magazine that same year when she married Thomas Cohen, revealing that while her mother wasn’t physically there, she was always with her.
“I feel her presence all the time but especially today,” she told the magazine. “Mum loved family celebrations and she would adore Tom and the fact that we’ve married here. I know that she is watching over me and feeling so happy for us.”
So so sad. Peaches’ friends and family are in our thoughts.
