As part of his ‘The Cowboy Rides Away’ tour George Strait gave one of his best performances of the year at the 49th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards on April 6. The performance was made memorable by the fact that it was a heartwarming tribute to country legend Merle Haggard.
George Strait, 61, is saying goodbye to tour life but first he wanted to share just how much he was inspired by country legend Merle Haggard through a touching tribute at the 2014 ACM Awards in Las Vegas. George and fellow country singer Miranda Lambert chose to perform a medley of songs to honor Merle on country music’s biggest night of the year.
