Take that, Ellen! The 2014 ACM Awards was the Bluke (ahem, Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan) Show, and their best moment had to be when they whipped out a cell phone to take the country world version of Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscars selfie. Which one did YOU like better?
Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton gave each other a hard time as the hosts of the 2014 ACM Awards — and it was hilarious — but our favorite moment of theirs was when they toned down the rivalry and came together to take the selfie heard ’round the country world.
Blake Shelton & Luke Bryan: Hosts Take Hilarious Selfie
You remember how Ellen DeGeneres took a selfie at the Academy Awards with Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Lawrence, and more that shut down Twitter, and well, it appears that Blake and Luke had an answer for that.
Walking along the front row of the ACM crowd, the two hosts declared that they were going to challenge Ellen with a historic selfie of their own. But who to take it with?
It was clear that legend George Strait — who took home Entertainer of the Year — wasn’t willing to say “Cheese,” so they moved on to Jason Aldean… before hilariously deciding that he wasn’t famous enough.
After a little more futile searching, the macho men obviously decided that they were the biggest stars at the ACMs, and that the pic should just be of them. But just before snapping the selfie, they cracked one more joke: “Wait, Sheryl Crow‘s in the background,” Blake cracked before turning around so just he and Blake were in the shot!
Blake Shelton & Luke Bryan: Did Their Selfie Beat Ellen?
So far, Luke’s tweet of himself and Blake taking the picture has only been re-tweeted 3,524 times, so they’ve got some work to do if they wanna reach Ellen in the social media stratosphere.
But still, we applaud the boys for the effort, and for sticking it to some of their country pals. Between this selfie gag, their hilarious opening monologue, and their incredible performances, it’s safe to say that Blake and Luke rocked their hosting gig.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Did you love Blake and Luke as hosts? Let us know!
