‘HIMYM’ Series Finale: Cobie Smulders Says Goodbye To Robin
The actress visited The Late Show With David Letterman to pay homage to HIMYM, and she had a lot to say about her nine seasons on the hugely popular series!
“I feel so incredibly grateful,” said Cobie. “I can’t believe I’ve been employed, as an actor.” David Letterman congratulated Cobie, saying, “Nine seasons in the world of television, that’s an amazing accomplishment.” It sure is! And the actress revealed how she celebrated the long-running series with her cast mates.
“We had our wrap party the Friday before our last week, and then we had a little celebration our last Friday which got a little bit sloppy.” (Oh, to be a fly on that wall!)
Was Cobie Shocked By The Ending of ‘HIMYM’?
Cobie, who called working on the show “the best job ever,” admitted to Dave that the co-creators of HIMYM had planned the big ending from the very beginning of the series, back in 2005.
“They had actually planned the ending during our pilot,” Cobie revealed. “They shot some scenes with the two children…who are now in their mid-20s. It’s kind of amazing that it’s been nine years, and it’s come full circle.”
The actress said it’s been “pretty amazing” to see the show come through to life, and spoke up about the major series finale. “This last episode…really wraps it all up,” Cobie said. “We not only get to see them meet each other for the first time, but also, we’re jumping forward into the future so we get to see these characters and their relationships 20 years in the future and see what they ended up doing.”
What’s Next For Cobie Smulders?
Now that she’s not filming HIMYM, what’s next for the fan-favorite actress?
She’s also moving to New York City where her husband Taran Killam works on Saturday Night Live. “It’s super cold here!” Cobie said about Manhattan. She also admitted that when she first lived in NYC (nine years ago, before she got her HIMYM gig), she was a broke model. “Now I can afford to eat here.” Well, that’s what happens when you star on a hit series for nine seasons!
