WELL FOR AS FAR TO THE LAST OF SEASON 4 WAS A SITTING ON THE END OF A CHAIR, AND JUST LIKE ALL THE SEASONS 1 2 3 WAS THE GRABBING AND HANGING ON TO KEEP FROM FALLING OFF. THAT`S WHAT’S I FEEL AT THE SEASON`S END.IT`S WILD.

I’m betting that the inhabitants of Terminus are Cannibals, and that they lure people there, to keep their food supply plentiful and regular. I’m also, betting that Terminus’s Leader will be even worse than the Governor!

It was great. You gave the home team another fighter. It will be interesting to see the escape.

This last episode of Season 4 is terrifying. The show has evolved in that humans against human
is more frightening than humans against zombies. It is a horrifying as Nazi’s.I will still watch this
show as I want to see all the characters we have come to love find home. When they find it
I want to watch episodes with nothing but their normal lives.

Rick and Daryl never “butted heads daily”… they’ve gotten along pretty smoothly for the majority of the series

The 2nd half of season 4 was slow, tedious and boring and I had a really hard time to push thru the remaining episodes. Yeah, I agree that after having lost the prison they needed to do a little wandering, but come on! Most episodes of the 2nd half felt empty, and about 2 or 3 episodes could have easily been compressed into one. Instead, we have a mostly empty half a season which is when the producers start milking the proverbial cash cow.

Honestly, I think the show, overall, is great, but this second half of season 4 makes me fear that, like many other shows out there, the producers are going to start “reaching” more and more and bastardize the show, as it often happens. I think 5 seasons is enough for most shows, after that they start getting diluted. Now the Walking dead, already starting to get stale, has been renewed for a few more seasons, great.

After watching season 4 finale I came online the see if I was off base with my feelings for this half of season 4, and turns out a lot of people are complaining about the exact same things.

Now, I don’t think that my comments are important enough for a producer to change the show, and it is hard for anyone, myself included, to say that a show is bad when it draws incredible ratings. However, what I can do is stop watching, which I will depending on how season 5 goes.

I loved the finale.

It made me feel every emotion! Fear, nostalgia, relief, anger, love, disgust, and hope!

And that’s all because of the characters. You can’t tell a compelling story if you have flat characters. It doesn’t matter how good the plot is. You need your audience to genuinely feel for them. They need to have depth and motivation.

They did such a good job. I can’t wait for season 5.

I think Beth come back a badass.

I personally loved the season finale and in fact the whole of season 4. We’ve learned more about the characters this season than the last 3 seasons put together. Can’t wait for season 5, i hope rick and the gang take terminus for themselves. RIP Hershel

the 2nd half of this season was trash except for like 3 episodes. there’s no reset happening they gna start where they left off. there was hardly any character development at all. everyone is who they were at the end of season 3 for the most part.

carl’s outcome has been questionable since he shot his mom, or at the end of sea. 3 when he shot that boy in the woods; so he’s had absolutely no character development.

tyrese… zero. tyrese has always been a good/nice guy, and that’s why he forgave carol. he’s the exact same as he was when introduced.
carol isn’t an evil murderous person, her confession let’s her go back to who she was. so no development.
btw what happened to them where are they?? while i’m at it where’s beth??

glen is the same he does the crazy stuff, and needs maggie and will do whatever. exact same as season 3. he had nothing to forgive tara for, she didn’t kill anyone.

daryl as always been rick’s solid #2. i guess maybe he’s forgiven himself for his pre-collapsed past.

maggie and sasha gained optimism.

michonne became human, and healed a lil bit from her past.

bob was a drunk, is a drunk, and hasn’t been given an opportunity to prove otherwise (although he’s a new character so wasn’t expecting anything)

rick still struggling with finding the balance between his pre-collapsed self, and who the coollapse could make him, which is the same but entertaining to watch. his conflicted relationship with carl doesn’t make sense anymore. 1st rick’s not a good leader so carl doesn’t respect him; and now carl’s ashamed becuz he’s not who rick wants him to be… dumb. they never really gave it time for carl to try and aspire to rick’s expectation.

the reason there wasn’t substantial character development is becuz herschel was killed, and he’s usually the catalyst for character development in others. but unfortunately they killed him off rreally becuz his character was complete, and he couldn’t be on the road with one leg… they need to have a one group of writers write the entire season together and make it happen

Hey kenneth….look at the flowers. :)

The character development is all over the place, you just seem to be looking for night and day differences which you’re not always going to get.

The flashbacks with Hershel are a direct contradiction to you saying there’s no development as it shows how he’s impacted Rick, which also filtered down to Carl via Rick.

We saw Carl go off the deep end and regain humanity, and fall off again and we see him go off on Rick blaming him for everything. However, he has remorse and realizes that it’s not all Rick’s fault. He’s going thru the same internal battles as Rick but has potential to be as refined as Rick at a much younger age if the day comes and he needs to lead. Michone is also huge in balancing Carl. The Carl-Rick is an ongoing development that will solidify in S5.

Carol’s story was significant in that she tried to do all the right things with the girls that she didn’t do with Sophia, yet the result was all the same for different reasons. And yes, she came clean with Tyrese which she DIDN’T HAVE TO DO. How is that not character development? The decision to put down Lizzy was also not done on her own, she consulted Tyrese and they came to an agreement. Something she didn’t do at the prison. Development.

Tyrese vowed to make whoever pay for Karen’s death. At the time, he didn’t care who it was in the group, he was out to avenge her death. After the Lizzy incident and understanding that Carol isn’t evil, he is still angry but changes his mind to instead forgive her. A clear change in behavior = development.

Daryl has traditionally been hardened to the world due to his roots (thanks Merle) and Beth has softened him to become more caring. He even almost covered the dead body (in respect) of the guy who betrayed him by planting the rabbit in his bag, and we saw him in danger of slipping back to his roots. This internal battle even noted by Joe when he says “ain’t nothin sadder than an outdoor cat who thinks he’s an indoor cat.” Ultimately we see him transform/DEVELOP completely in the finale. Over the season he’s gone from a guy who’s hardened, distant, numb to the world, loner- to completely sacrificing himself for Rick and the group. THIS is the moment we find out that Daryl is ridding himself completely of that old life and knows who he is and who he belongs with. Rick calls him a brother and that clearly meant a lot to Daryl. Huge moment.

Conversely, Beth has become stronger thanks to Daryl and that might be a big reason why she survives on her own to have an impact in S5.

Glen’s has become a confident leader, which not at all what he was before although he still jumps the gun, I agree. Yes, he showed strength in S3 when he rescued Maggie from Governor, but this time he’s become more of a leader and won over others to help, which has strengthened the group. He may not have directly recruited them but the result was the same: they followed him. We see how relentless he is (Maggie too) which may not be surprising, but definitely part of his character.

I actually agree w/ you about Michone despite you downplaying it, it’s been huge as she’s also been positively influencing Carl this whole time. She’s helped balance both Rick and Carl in S4, as they have done for her.

I also agree about Bob, he’s the least developed character although we did get a brief look as to how he came to the group.

Almost every experience shown has shaped these characters and you’re missing the point of S4…which has shown how DESPITE the group being separated, they have found ways to SURVIVE and actually grow STRONGER individually, which will translate into an awesome S5 now that they’re back together. They are seemingly trapped at the end of S4 but are now stronger and more deadly than they ever have been. The whereabouts of Tyrese/Carol/Beth/Judith are supposed to be a mystery, season finale’s are supposed to have a cliffhanger element!!! Just like we didn’t know where the Governor went in S3. If all the loose ends were tied then you wouldn’t be motivated to watch next season. Hopefully I’ve shed some light on some things for you to appreciate a bit more, but if you still think S4 was trash, then feel free to watch something else! :)

Agreed flashbacks were essential, they weren’t showing character growth, just the ultimate question around humanity! Can people (with or without zombies) live together without killing each other over resources? The Cannibal Cult is going down, they started it and Rick is going to finish it.

LOVED the finale! I suspected those people were cannibals from the first moment I saw the meat cooking. I really liked the flashbacks. They were sad and sentimental and emotional. I love the character building that has been going on in this season. Can’t WAIT for Season 5!! This is my favorite show above ALL others.

I love the finale! Rick is back! Nobody fucks with Rick Grimes! People need to stop complaining about the flashbacks. I was glad to see Hershel back. I miss him dearly. What a performance when Rick bit Joe’s jugular out! I don’t know what I am going to without TWD for 28 weeks!

Absolutely perfect ending to a fantastic season. We needed the flashbacks to fully appreciate the two extremes that Rick has now undergone. He was truly ready to make a try at being a regular dad for his son, to show him that the world does not have to be so harsh. But the reality of this world (right now) is that it is survival first.

the second half of this season has been a terrific character study, exposing the depths that one may have to reach to make it in the new world order. Each character has changed, some for worse, some for better, but each profoundly.

Of course you would trust Terminus by entering through the front. Peaceful music, gardens, laundry hanging and the greeting by a very friendly face. After the torment since the end of the prison you might be ready to accept any possible sanctuary. Even Rick, Michonne and Daryl.

I am excited for Season Five!

Dear Amanda Michelle Steiner

Just look at the flowers, look at the flowers Amanda.

Thank you for pointing out all the highlights and pivotal moments of the finale. Your analysis has merits but you have ignored the fact that the whole of Season 4 has been a reflective one. The writers have explored a majority of the supporting characters quite thoroughly. The Terminus storyline has been simmering in the background building the fans expectation for an all out BANG in the season finale. As a fan, we have been WAITING PATIENTLY for it, and we have been forgiving for the character explorations.

As a fan, I was aware months ago the finale’s major moment was in the first fifteen or so minutes and it was going to end the way it did. Any fan expecting a bang in the season 4 finale probably didn’t get the point of 4B.

It was a great ending to the season. Now it keeps us wondering what’s going to happen in season 5. Who is going to escape the train car and go to the barried guns in the woods? Is Carol and Tyreese going to meet them in the woods and help take down Terminus? So many ideas going though my brain!! I LOVE this show!! Oh one more! Is that Beth on the BBQ grill??

I don’t think Beth is dead – yet. I do believe that one of them will die early next season and have an idea who based on the comics. But I won’t spoil it.
