Josh Elliott is quitting ‘Good Morning America’ after negotiations with the network regarding his contract fell through. It’s looking more and more like the mornings may not be so good for the top rated ABC show.
Josh Elliott, 42, is saying goodbye to Good Morning America. Josh had been embroiled in hard contract negotiation with the network for weeks. It is understood that he had been asking for $10 million a year and ABC had counter-offered with $5 million annually for him to stay on the morning show.

ABC News brass had believed their offer was a “generous increase” over his current $1 million salary. Until Sunday, it had been believed that Elliott had demanded $8 million and ABC had then countered with $4 million, reports the New York Daily News.
Amy Robach — who recently recovered from breast cancer and a double mastectomy — will now be the news reader and co-host on GMA, effective immediately.
“We always knew that Amy was special and we have all been especially inspired to watch her battle breast cancer with grace and determination,” ABC News Chief Ben Sherwood told staffers in a March 30 memo.

Josh’s now former co-hosts supported his new gig during the March 31 episode of GMA. George Stephanopoulos announced the news, adding “he told us last night,” which surprised us a little bit!
However, they all wished him well. “Josh we love you, we’re happy for you, and we wish you nothing but the best,” Lara Spencer said.
“I know I have big shoes to fill — both literally and figuratively — I’ll do my best for you Josh,” Amy added after Lara’s comments.
At NBC, Elliott is expected to cover the most high-profile sports properties the network carries, including the NFL, the Olympics and the Triple Crown.
