Benzino‘s Drive-By Shooting: Rapper Speaks Out On Being Shot At Mother’s Funeral
The 48-year-old rapper, whose birth name is Raymond Scott, is currently recovering at South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth , Ma., after being shot in the back and arm. He says he’s “alright” and instead of showing hatred toward his nephew, who’s currently in police custody, all the rapper wants to do is remember his mother.
“Only thing I wanna say about that as far as live on camera is that my mother was a beautiful, beautiful woman,” the artist tells TheNeHipHop in a new interview. “And what’s transpired with her over the last 10 years was just really unfortunate.”
“As far as her — I would have wanted her to retire. And be somewhere on the island and stuff, but things happened,” he adds in a somber voice. “Things happened that was out of my control. I’m in Atlanta and she’s up here. And she has other daughters and nephews and stuff. It’s just — it’s unfortunate. Money brings the worst out of people.”
Wow! It’s so sad to see a family torn apart by money. We’re just glad that Benzino survived this shocking attack.
Benzino Doesn’t Trust Anyone After Shooting
While money has the tendency to bring out the worst in people, it appears Benzino’s nephew has brought out the worst in him. The rapper says this incident has taught him a great deal about people in general, and reveals that he’s lost respect for humanity.
“With my mother not here probably — I just start losing faith in human beings,” he said. “Because when I grew up it wasn’t like this. We live in an age of social media now and it’s no genuine love because you really don’t even know who you talking to half the time. I think with my mom passing and with the things that transpired it’s definitely made me a little bit colder.”
“But then there could be something that happens next week that makes my heart happy again,” he adds.
Benzino has been through a lot in the last week, but it’s a really good sign that he is hopeful for the future. What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Should Benzino try to forgive his nephew? Let us know.
