On March 28, AMC announced that a spin-off of the hit series ‘The Walking Dead’ has received the green light. If you’re a fan of the show, hopefully you’re just as excited as we are! Here are all the reasons we can’t wait to see what AMC has in store for us.
AMC is going to be taking an entirely new look at the post-zombie apocalypse world. Are you ready for a The Walking Dead spin-off? You should be!
‘The Walking Dead’ Spin-off — An Awesome Idea
It’s official! AMC has given the green light to a The Walking Dead spin-off. Though very few details about the second series are available, here’s what we DO know so far:
— None of our original favorites will appear on the show
— Series creator Robert Kirkman will co-write
— Sons of Anarchy executive producer Dave Erickson will executive produce & co-write
— It should premiere before 2015
That’s about it. Okay, so this is slim pickings, as Daryl would probably say, but hey — it’s something! You have to admit, even if you have the slightest bit of doubt about a spin-off, knowing that Robert Kirkman is going to be involved makes you feel a little better, doesn’t it? It makes me feel better! In fact, it makes me very, very, very excited.
And although we’re not going to see any of our favorite cast members, I think that’s something we need to be grateful for. After all, the second half of season four has been enough torture as it is. Rick, Glenn, Daryl, and the rest of the gang have been separated since the series returned on Feb. 9, and we have been gearing up for a group reunion at the creepy, potentially cannibalistic Terminus ever since.
Do we really want to see part of our group split up permanently just so we can have a second series? No, we definitely do not!
‘The Walking Dead’ Spin-off — Things To Hope For
Alright, even though we don’t know what Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson have in store for us just yet, that doesn’t mean we can’t make a wish list.
The possibilities are endless. Literally endless. What we’ve seen on The Walking Dead so far is really just a spectacle in a worldwide apocalypse. Think about it: What’s going on in New York? Or, how about other major cities like New Orleans, Chicago, Dallas, etc.?
Think about the dozens of other Woodbury’s that are out there. Surely, Georgia can’t be the only place someone figured out how to contain a small town.
How many refugee camps are there? Are political figures out there somewhere, desperately hiding and seeking refuge? What if there are people out there working on a cure? What if, what if, what if?!
I mean, come on, I could sit here and think of things for them to touch on ALL DAY if you asked me to!
So, yes, I’m excited about The Walking Dead spin-off. I think you should be, too, because the possibility of greatness is attainable with Robert Kirkman on board.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you excited for a ‘Walking Dead’ spin-off? Will you watch? Let us know your thoughts below!
