Jessica Dutro has been charged with murder in the death of her 4-year-old son. The mother’s boyfriend, Brian Canady, has accepted a lesser charge of manslaughter after agreeing to testify against the murderous mother.

There’s a shocking twist in the Jessica Dutro case: Her boyfriend, Brian Canady, is set to testify against her as a character witness. Brian has admitted to kicking Jessica’s son, Zachary Dutro-Boggess, in the abdomen and causing the blunt force trauma that lead to his death.

Jessica Dutro — Boyfriend Will Testify In Court

Jessica Dutro, 25, has been charged with murder, murder by abuse, and second-degree assault for the death of her son, Zachary Dutro-Boggess. In August 2012, the 4-year-old boy was violently beaten to death by Jessica and her boyfriend at the time, Brian Canady, because they assumed he was gay.

Brian, who has pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault, is set to testify against his ex-girlfriend as a witness in the ongoing murder trial.

This is an interesting turn of events, because at the time of Brian’s arrest he admitted to kicking little Zachary in the stomach while wearing shoes. According to his autopsy report, Zachary died of blunt force trauma to the abdomen and a delay in medical treatment.

Zachary Was Abused ‘The Worst’

At the time of Zachary’s death, Jessica had at least two other children who showed signs of physical abuse. There is a 7-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy. The police report stated that her infant son was the only one who did not appear to be abused.

In court, prosecutors claimed that Zachary received the most abuse. Messages from Jessica to her boyfriend Brian on Facebook show that she believed he “walked” and “talked” like he might be gay. In the messages, Jessica told Brian he would have to “work on” Zachary’s sexuality.

The autopsy report found that little Zachary’s colon was torn and bleeding for up to two days before he finally collapsed in the homeless shelter he was living in with his family. Zachary lived for two days on life support before doctors decided it would be best to remove his ventilator.
