Three days after Gwyneth and Chris announced they were separating, the actress spoke out for the first time, thanking all the fans for their support.
On March 25, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin broke the news that they were officially breaking up in a post on her website, goop, yet agreed to stay a “conscious uncouple.” Then on March 28, the Iron Man actress spoke out for the first time about the split, adding a small “PS” to the end of a recipe she shared on her site.
Gwyneth Paltrow Speaks Out After Split
“P.S. CM and I in deep gratitude for the support of so many,” Gwyneth, 41, wrote in the introduction of the weekly newsletter on goop. Of course, CM stands for her husband, Coldplay singer, Chris Martin, 37.
The couple, who have been married for more than ten years, announced their split in a post on goop, titled “Conscious Uncoupling.”
“We have been working hard — some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate,” they explained in their post, and according to reports that hard work had been going on for quite some time.
“This news should surprise no one,” a source close to the pair told NYDailyNews. “They haven’t been a couple for a number of years and have been pretending for the sake of the kids and each other’s careers.”
Cameron Diaz Defends Gwyneth’s Decision
While some made fun of the way they announced their split on goop, Gwyneth’s friend Cameron Diaz called it a “brave” decision.
“I think it’s actually a very elevated and conscious and realized statement,” she told Extra. “When people like Chris and Gwyneth, who really worked hard to be friends and keep the things that are good and work in their relationship, which is being friends and being parents. People go separate ways in other aspects of their life, and I think it’s really brave of them to phrase it that way. Leaving as a couple and deciding to stay together as parents and as friends, I think it’s beautiful. I’m so proud of them.”
Leslie Mann, Cameron’s costar in the upcoming film, The Other Woman, added that “eleven years is a long time” so the split “makes sense.”
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Do you think that it’s weird that Gwyneth keeps writing about her relationship on goop? Or is it a good way to express herself? Let us know.
