So sad! Country singer Trace Adkins’ wife, Rhonda Adkins, has filed for a divorce after nearly 17 years of marriage.
Trace Adkins‘ wife, Rhonda Adkins, filed for divorce from the 51-year-old country crooner approximately two months after he checked into rehab for alcohol abuse following a relapse on Jan. 19. It’s unclear if their split is related to Trace’s alcohol issues.
Trace Adkins & Wife’s Divorce — Rhonda Break Up After 17 Years Of Marriage
Rhonda filed the divorce docs in Williamson County, Tenn., citing “irreconcilable differences.” The couple, who were married in 1997, officially separated on March 24, according to the documents.
Rhonda is seeking primary residential custody of the couple’s three daughters, aged 16, 12, and 9, TMZ reports. She has also filed for child support, alimony and legal fees. Rhonda also wants to be named the sole beneficiary of Trace’s life insurance policy, according to TMZ.
Trace Adkins In Rehab — Country Singer Seeking Treatment For Alcohol Abuse
It’s been a tough year for Trace, who relapsed on Jan. 13 after 12 years of sobriety, while on a cruise to Jamaica. Thankfully, the country star did the right thing and checked into rehab.
His rep told Country Weekly in a statement at the time:
“Trace has entered a treatment facility after a setback in his battle with alcoholism. As he faces these issues head-on, we ask that his family’s privacy will be respected.”
Trace, who is famous for such hits as “You’re Gonna Miss This” and “Ladies Love Country Boys,” reportedly had an altercation with a Trace impersonator who was singing kareoke at a bar on the cruise ship, according to TMZ.
