Could the fate of Malaysia Flight 370 finally be discovered? A desperate search is on off the coast of Australia after sightings of large debris and promising new radar hits. Will the passenger’s families finally have answers?
After 10 long days of searching vast oceans for missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370, a new discovery could bring an end to the mystery. The two unrecognizable objects, spotted by satellite off the coast of Australia in the Indian Ocean on March 19, may be the remains of the missing flight. The largest is about 24 meters (79 feet) across, said John Young, general manager of emergency response for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

The objects appeared to be “awash with water and bobbing up and down” in an area 2,500 kilometers (1,500 miles) southwest of Australia’s west coast, John said.
A Royal Australian Air Force posted to twitter, on March 20, that a surveillance plane was sent to the site but was unable to locate the objects, reports CNN. Clouds, rain and limited visibility impeded the search, the agency said.
An Australian naval ship was then dispatched to the wreckage site, however it is still “some days away,” Malaysia’s interim Transportation Secretary Hishammuddin Hussein said.
“At least there is a credible lead,” said Hishammuddin. “That gives us hope. As long as there’s hope, we will continue.”
Debris Spotted In Indian Ocean Could Be From Missing Malaysia Flight 370
Before this most recent discovery, a theory suggested that flames tore through flight 370’s cockpit, forcing the pilots to attempt an emergency landing near the Maldives. The theory contained some proof to support it, as residents of the south Asian islands reported seeing a “low-flying jumbo jet” on March 8. The date corresponds with the day of the plane’s disappearance.
However, Malaysian officials dismissed the theory during a press conference on March 19, according to the UK’s Daily Mail.
