Eat your heart out, Daniel Day Lewis. Hold on tight to that Oscar, Jared Leto! There’s a new actor in Tinseltown making some crazy bodily transformations and it’s NOT who you’d expect.
Funnyman Jason Segel, who is best known for roles in hit comedies like I Love You Man, Knocked Up, This is 40 and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, is undergoing quite the physical transformation to play author David Foster Wallace on the big screen. The first pics of Jason on set surfaced on March 19, and you won’t believe what he looks like now!
Jason Segel Goes Full David Foster Wallace For Movie Role
To play the role of David Foster Wallace in The End of the Road, which begins filming this spring, Jason has traded his signature bohemian “guy’s guy” style — hawaiian shorts and a t-shirt — for a much grungier look. It’s difficult to recognize him as DFW thanks to the long hair he’s sporting and because we’re not used to seeing him wear glasses. But he’s definitely pulling off one helluva unique look!
Based on Rolling Stone writer David Lipsky‘s book, Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip With David Foster Wallace, the film also stars Jesse Eisenberg (The Squid and the Whale) as Lipsky. And with this kind of commitment from Segel, we wonder if the Oscars will take notice of his physical transformation next year. Hey, it worked for Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey this year!
