Alex Preston Needs To Be The Next ‘American Idol’

Alex Preston has been a frontrunner on the 13th season of ‘American Idol’ since the beginning, but his performance of ‘Story Of My Life’ by One Direction proved that he has the chops to take home the title. Do you agree?

We’ve been huge fans of Alex Preston since his first appearance on American Idol‘s Season 13, where he sang an original song titled “Fairy Tales.” Choosing an original song is always a risky move and it often doesn’t pay off, but even though the judges weren’t wild about his song choice, his incredible talent shined through. That said, he’s been killing it in the finals since they started, but his performance of One Direction‘s “Story Of My Life” on the March 19 episode of Idol put him at the forefront of the competition. We’re only in the Top 10 and it might be too early to say it, but I think that Alex will be — and needs to be — our next American Idol.

‘American Idol’ Recap: Alex Preston Wows Judges With ‘Story Of My Life’

Alex’s performances during the finals have always been very consistently good — and while he hasn’t always necessarily nailed it, he always takes in what the judges have to say with a level head and is even better the next time. For example, when he performed Gavin DeGraw‘s “I Don’t Wanna Be,” the judges told him that they didn’t like his arrangement choice for the song.

So, he stepped it up the next week with a performance of “Falling Slowly,” by Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova — and killed it. His vocals, ownership of the stage, and arrangement were all on point. Finally, with last night’s “Story Of My Life,” it became clear that Alex has gotten into the Idol groove. Already a very talented performer, Alex will only continue to improve as the competition goes on.

Jena Irene Might Also Win The Title Of ‘American Idol’

Furthermore, who else could possibly win the Idol title? MK Nobilette has a huge fanbase but her performances have been all over the map. Sam Woolf and Jena Irene may be Alex’s biggest competition, but Sam — as cute as he is — can be quite timid and his performances don’t always carry. I think Jena is fantastic, but America is not on my level about her, for some reason. Don’t get me wrong — if Jena wins the title, I will still be super pleased.

Alex, however, seems to have the whole American Idol package that America is looking for — and we really hope that he makes it to the end!

What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Is it Alex for the win? Jena? Or is there another finalist that has your vote? Be sure to vote and to comment below!
