After being arrested for trying to kill her three children by driving a minivan directly into the ocean, the murderous ‘Minivan Mom’ tried to kill her unborn child by beating her stomach with her fists. This shocking new information about the mom’s violent outburst was revealed during her latest court hearing on Monday, March 17.

Ebony Wilkerson, 32, continued to try and harm herself and her unborn child after being taken into police custody on March 4. The violent act landed her in a psychiatric ward for an evaluation under Florida’s Baker Act, where she was later released back into police custody.

Mom Tried To Kill Unborn Child By Punching Stomach

Ebony Wilkerson, 32, is currently facing three charges of first degree murder after she attempted to kill her children by driving her minivan into the ocean on March 4 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Now, new details about her attempt at killing her unborn child after being arrested were released during the Monday, March 17 court hearing.

State Attorney R.J. Larizza revealed that Ebony was taken to a psychiatric ward after she was caught ‘beating her stomach’ while in police custody. R.J. shared that police feared her unborn baby was in grave danger, which allowed them to put her into the psychiatric ward under the Baker Act. Florida’s Baker Act allows law officials to involuntarily take someone into custody if they seem to be a threat to themselves or others, which Ebony definitely was.

Doctors Fear Ebony’s Mental State Will Get Worse

According to Craig S. Dyer, the public defender for Ebony, the violent outburst in which she tried to murder her unborn baby came from being locked up under ‘inhumane’ conditions. Craig claims that Ebony was naked while left alone in solitary confinement after her initial arrest.

Psychiatrist Dr. James Moore claims that the terms of Ebony’s arrest are far too restrictive, and he fears it could make her mental state much worse. Dr. Moore also believes that with the right treatment, Ebony can be helped.

“I believe that Mrs. Wilkerson can be helped,” Dr. Moore said during the hearing. “She’s limited in her ability even for such things as getting fresh air.”

Ebony’s three children — aged 3, 9, & 10 — are currently in foster care while their mother’s case continues to unfold in court.
