Miley Cyrus: Why She’s Cutting Off Her Friendship With Demi Lovato

We love Miley and Demi both so much, but sadly the two young music icons just can’t be friends — and we found out why. They’re just not on the same page when it comes to partying, a source tells EXCLUSIVELY.

Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato seem like a match made in heaven. They’re both innocent Disney girls turned international superstars, and they both have killer voices to match their edgy, one-of-a-kind personas. So why did these two pop princesses split after years of friendship? Apparently Demi is too much of a goodie two-shoes for Miley, a source tells EXCLUSIVELY.

Miley Cyrus On Demi Lovato Split: Why She CAN Stop Being Demi’s Friend

It’s no secret that Miley is all about partying — she openly sings her heart out about popping molly and “trying to get a line in the bathroom,” and she even smoked what looked like a joint on stage at the 2013 EMAs.

Demi, on the other hand, has struggled with drugs throughout her life, and is currently in recovery. She often speaks out about the dangers of substance abuse, and tries to help celeb friends like Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber cope with and get through addiction.

It is for this exact reason that the “Wrecking Ball” swinger doesn’t want to hang with the “Heart Attack” singer, a source close to Miley reveals to EXCLUSIVELY.

“Demi preaches her way through avoiding partying thanks to her past and Miley is all about it,” the source explains. “Miley wants a friend and not a parent, and that is exactly the vibe Demi gives off. Miley thinks Demi is a literal buzz kill.”

Ouch! Miley has a right to hang out with whomever she pleases, but we think it’s a little harsh for her to diss Demi for wanting to stay sober.

“It is the ultimate oil and water situation between them both,” the source continues. “They are not friends because Miley does everything Demi is against and Miley thinks Demi is no fun at all. So you can imagine how that would work out when they would be together.”

Demi Lovato: Could She Be A Positive Influence On Miley Cyrus?

Despite the fact that these two ladies are not friends for now, we’re sure the day will come when Miley wants to or needs to tone down her partying and settle into a more stable daily routine. When that happens, she will need someone like Demi who’s not afraid to tell it like it is, and who can understand Miley’s lifestyle and personal struggles.

So while these two superstars may be frenemies for now, we wouldn’t be shocked if the tables turned somewhere down the line.
