Kiss is celebrating their 40th anniversary by going on tour with Def Leppard! Beginning June 23 in West Valley City, Utah, the rockers will team up for a whopping 42-city North American tour.
Two weeks ago, Kiss was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and now the legendary band has more good news to share — they’re going back on tour with Def Leppard! Tickets will be available for purchase starting March 21 so get ready to rock!
Time to Rock and Roll — Kiss and Def Leppard Team Up For Summer Tour
Def Leppard bassist Joe Elliot tells USA Today that he had originally discussed the idea of doing a co-headline tour with Gene Simmons, when the two rockers performed together two years ago as part of the rock-and-roll all-stars tour. “It finally happened,” Elliot said, “which is fantastic.” Kiss vocalist-guitarist Paul Stanley agrees: “It just seemed to be a natural fit.”
The tour is set to kick off just as Kiss begins to celebrate its 40th anniversary and the band has other big plans in the works, including a planned series of 180-gram vinyl reissues of their catalog. Pretty badass, right?!
Kiss is also putting out a two-CD compiation titled Kiss 40, which will feature some of the group’s greatest hits of all time.
But with two badass rock groups on the same ticket for so many dates, will a rivalry develop between the two bands? Joe says the simple answer is no: “It’s two great bands that are going to be playing for the same amount of time,” he told USA Today. “It’s joint forces. I don’t see it as competitive at all.”
