Are you working against all odds to reach a goal? If you need great get-ahead advice, then check out Adam Braun’s new book, ‘The Promise Of A Pencil: How An Ordinary Person Can Create Extraordinary Change.’ Read his tips here and watch our video interview.

When Adam Braun was first inspired by his travels to India to launch a charity organization which would build schools for impoverished third world children, he was determined to fight to bring education to needy youngsters.

You Don’t Have To Be Launching A Charity To Be Inspired By Adam Braun

Adam, the author of ‘The Promise of A Pencil’, had never raised money before, had no formal training in running a charitable organization, and in fact, he was still a college student. But his life changed when he took a student trip to India and asked a small beggar boy what he would like if he could have any one thing in the world. “A pencil,” he replied. The little boy’s desire to go to school was so strong — even though he had no hope of fulfilling that wish — that Adam’s life was changed.

He became obsessed with the idea of building schools to bring education and hope to poor children, and founded his organization, Pencils of Promise, which now, several years later, is breaking ground on its 200th school.

The lessons that he learned along the way — how to raise money, how to find donors and dedicated staffers, how to get communities in Laos and Ghana to support the schools — are all explained and made relatable in his engrossing book, which is on sale now.

You don’t have to be launching a charity to be inspired and to learn from Adam. I know I did. Here are a few of Adam’s key pieces of advice for you:

Adam Braun: Big Dreams Begin With Small, Unreasonable Acts

#1. You don’t have to have a lot of money, power, or influence to make your big dream happen.

#2. You only get one chance at this life, so go for it. Don’t wait. The right time is now!

#3. Don’t be normal! Don’t think of yourself as better. Just be comfortable with being different.

#4. Know that you have a purpose. Everyone has a purpose and so allow yourself to find yours, believe in it and follow it.

#5. Big dreams begin with small, unreasonable acts. In other words, just take a small step to get going, even if you think it’s so small, it’s crazy.

#6. ‘Fess up to your failures and learn from them — we all make mistakes, but when you do, don’t hide them — use them to grow.

Now, to get inspired, watch my HollywoodLife.com interview with Adam, buy his book at Amazon for $18.63, or at your favorite bookstore (I couldn’t put The Promise Of A Pencil down), and know that every book sold provides a day of education to a child!
