The biopic of the legendary James Brown is coming out on Aug. 2, and the first trailer has finally been released!

From what we can see, the movie is going to be a hit. The 2 minutes and 47 seconds-long trailer shows actor Chadwick Boseman in the role of the Godfather of Soul, and he nails those famous James Brown dance moves! Other Hollywood greats such as Viola Davis (as his mother who abandoned him at age 6) and Octavia Spencer (as his aunt who raised him in a brothel) are also serving up their dramatic best. The flick also features actor Nelsan Ellis, most known for his role as Lafayatte in HBO’s True Blood, as James Brown’s band mate.

James Brown Biopic Will Be Emotional

Get On Up will tell the story of the man who went on to inspire the likes of Michael Jackson and Usher, as he was growing up in an impoverished neighborhood. The Universal film also follows the legendary musician as he serves times in prison, then chronicles his rise to fame. The summer flick also features Mick Jagger as a producer.

With all this star power, we are sure the film will not disappoint! Let us know HollywoodLifers, are you going to watch Get On Up?
