There’s nothing complicated about it, Avril and BSB make a perfect stage combo! The boy band announced on March 12 that they were extending their ‘In a World Like This’ tour, and adding Avril Lavigne — and I couldn’t think of a better pair up!
The Backstreet Boys don’t need another act to join them to sell tickets — and neither does Avril Lavigne! However, the fact that they’re joining together for the North American tour will bring happiness to so many — because if you were too young for BSB, you weren’t too young for Avril!
Avril Lavigne & Backstreet Boys Tour Will Be Amazing
BSB put out four albums between 1996 and 2000, before taking a hiatus. In those four albums, their fan base grew tremendously, and their hits piled up. From “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” and “As Long As You Love Me” to “I Want It That Way” and “Larger than Life,” they produced hit after hit after hit.[hl_ndn videoid=”25657584″][hl_ndn videoid=”25232944″]
However, come 2002 and a new artist rose to fame — 17-year-old Avril Lavigne with an adorable punk rock song “Sk8er Boi,” followed by the dramatic “Complicated.”
The fans immediately went crazy — and that was just the start. Her fame only grew. While she showed her rock side always existed, she also took on emotional ballads like “I’m With You,” Nobody’s Home” and “Keep Holding On.”
Avril Knows About Boy Bands
Basically, with their style completely different — from looks to sounds to fans — it will bring double the crowd. While she’s a bit younger, she’s also married to a musician so is used to being on tour with bands.
She’s married to Chad Kroeger of Nickleback and used to be married to Sum 41‘s Deryck Whibley, so being around a boy band and their crazy fans shouldn’t be a problem for her at all.
So, maybe I’m a little bias — I’ve seen BSB many times and have wanted to see Avril forever. Plus, I can totally see a “Girlfriend”/”The Call” mashup happening. HollywoodLifers, do you agree — will you go see the tour?
