The stakes are higher than ever on tonight’s ‘American Idol’ results show! The next eliminated finalist won’t make it to the Top 10 OR to the ‘American Idol’ summer tour.
On the March 13 results show, Ryan Seacrest informs us that this is the end of the line for one of the finalists in more ways than one. The eliminated contestant who doesn’t make it into the Top 10 also won’t make it into the American Idol summer tour!
‘American Idol’ Recap: Harry Connick Jr. Performs
Caleb Johnson, Dexter Roberts, and CJ Harris are safe.
Tables are turning! Up is down, black is white! Harry Connick Jr. took the stage to sing a couple of songs for the American Idol audience. He sang a new song,”One Fine Thing,” and “Come By Me,” released in 1999. It was whatever! Definitely not memorable at all. The bottom for you, Harry!
Next, in what we think may have been a fever dream, Munfarid Zaidi — Harry’s biggest fan, eliminated during Hollywood Week — walked onto stage and Harry picked him up in a bridal carry while Munfarid sang “Every Man Should Know,” directly into Harry’s face. Did that really happen?!
Malaya Watson and MK Nobilette are both safe; Majesty Rose and Ben Briley are both in the bottom. We’ll be the first ones to tell you that we thought Majesty’s performance last night was quite weak, but she had better not go home!
‘American Idol’ Recap: The Eliminated Finalist To Be Cut From ‘Idol’ Summer Tour
By the way — tonight, the contestants are doing impressions of the judges. It’s all pretty uneventful until CJ Harris speaks some deep wisdom, refusing to wear the long wig everyone else was rocking for the JLo impressions: “I won’t make fun of JLo.” GOOD BOY!
Our Taste Makers pick for this week is brought to us by Jennifer Lopez. Mali Music is our favorite Taste Makers musician so far — not only was “Beautiful” a good jam, but he’s not super famous like the other ones have been and could actually benefit hugely from this exposure.
Jessica Meuse, Alex Preston, and Jena Irene are safe. Our boyfriend Sam Woolf is in the bottom! But he’s too cute to be sent home!!
America agrees with our professional opinion about Sam being too cute — he’s safe.
Ryan tells us that 0.07 per cent of the vote separated Majesty and Ben tonight. And the person going home is Ben! He seems like a good dude, he really does, but we won’t miss him. We’d have burned the world down if Majesty had gone home now. Real talk.
Is American Idol on Grace Potter and the Nocturnals’ payroll?! Ben’s “sing-for-your-life” song was “Stars” from the band that has received more airplay on Idol than on the radio. Aw, Ben. This was not a great performance for you. The judges choose not to use their save.
What did you think, HollywoodLifers? Was Ben the person to be sent home? Vote and comment below!
