Bill O’Reilly has slammed Beyonce for her ‘Partition’ music video, claiming she is glorifying sex and using her role model status to encourage young girls to get pregnant. Do you think Bill is going too far this time?
While interviewing music mogul Russell Simmons, Bill O’Reilly went off on a rant about one of Beyonce‘s latest music videos. Though Russell protests the topic at hand, Bill brings up the Monica Lewinsky reference and goes on to call her sexy “Partition” music video “garbage.”
Bill O’Reilly Attacks Beyonce — Slams Sexy Video
Bill O’Reilly is at it again, and this time Beyonce is in his line of fire.
On Monday, March 10, Russell Simmons was a guest on The O’Reilly Factor, which is when Bill asked him for an explanation for Beyonce‘s “Partition” music video. Bill asks why Beyonce, a role model for young women of color, would release a video glorifying sex at a time when unwanted pregnancies and fractured families are at an all-time high. Russell is quick to try and change to subject to talk about his new book, but Bill, in his typical fashion, pushes him back to Beyonce by continuing to slam her and the sexy video which references her having sex in the back of a limo with her husband, Jay-Z.
“I believe an entertainer like Beyonce and a mogul like you have an obligation to protect children,” Bill explains. “Not put out exploitive garbage that you know harms impressionable children. I think Beyonce, what she has done here, is inexplicable. I’m asking you […] to explain it to me.”
Russell takes the bait, but swings the conversation away from Beyonce and to good parenting choices: “My daughters make choices based on the inspiration we give them as parents.”
Bill Questions ‘Art’ In The Music Industry
Russell, who is the co-founder of music label Def Jam, had a lot to say about artists being blamed for things that are out of their hand during his interview with Bill. During their heated conversation about Beyonce, Russell continued to make valid points about artists and how they express reflections of reality.
“Bill, if you think the art that comes out of a community is the cause of the struggle,” Russell tried to explain, before Bill interrupted him.
“That’s art? Beyonce in the back of a limo having sex and referencing Monica Lewinsky is art?” Bill angrily questions.
“Yeah, it is, actually,” Russell tries to explain again. “She’s a brilliant artist, and she’s not only by people of color, as you know, she’s really one of the top artists in the world. Of every color.”
“I can’t understand why the women did it,” Bill explains, but the conversation is finally over.
Although I think Russell was a total professional and handled himself in the best way he could, it’s clear that Bill was not satisfied with any of his responses.
