While in the middle of their trip to India to pick up newly adopted daughter Zoey, mom Jen starts to feel sick, and is forced to make a tough call on the March 11 episode of ‘The Little Couple.’
Dr. Jennifer Arnold and Bill Klein were hoping that their adoption of daughter Zoey would go smoothly, but Jen’s growing health concerns — and later cancer diagnosis, leave the couple with some difficult decisions to make on the March 11. episode of The Little Couple.
Jen’s Health Forces Her To Return To Houston
“I just started to have some abdominal pains, not quite sure what to think about it, just a little upset stomach,it could be the food.” Upon landing in New Delhi India, where Bill Klein and Dr. Jennifer Arnold are finishing up the adoption of daughter Zoey, Jen begins to fall ill. Urging Bill to take Zoey to the doctor without her, Jen stays behind with son Will, in the hope that her abdominal pains will pass by the time Bill returns.
When Bill comes back from the doctor, he finds that Jen’s sickness has not passed, but has become more serious, “I’ve gotten worse, and in fact developed some symptoms that are pretty concerning, including excessive bleeding.” After Jen calls her OB back home in Houston, she is forced to make a tough call between taking her doctors advice and heading back to America or staying in New Dehli and helping Bill finish the adoption process.
Ultimately, Jen makes the tough call and decides that she needs to take her doctors advice, and head home.
“I’m worried about leaving so soon because I am still bonding with Zoey and it’s clear that she’s still having trouble with Bill. I mean the whole situation, it’s going to be stressful,” Jen reveals during the episode. “He’s still got all these steps in the adoption process to go through, I don’t want him to have to do that alone halfway across the world without me, but something is definitely wrong and it’s serious and I need to get medical attention soon.”
Bill Hopes To Gain Zoey’s Trust
While Jen is forced to step back and and return home, Bill continues to work on Zoey’s adoption — and on earning her trust.
“I wish I could remove her apprehension,” Bill explains about his struggle with Zoey. “I can’t convince her that I’m a good guy, I’m going to have to earn that trust, and I just wish there was a faster way to do it.”
After a successful clean bill of health, Zoey is awarded a visa and Bill makes plans for the family to head home to Jen.
Jen and Bill are definitely brave, and we commend Jen on taking her health so seriously. On next week’s March 17 episode, the family will be reunited at home in Texas where Jen’s illness continues to grow more and more concerning.
Jen was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer back in December 2013, but revealed in Feb 2014 that her cancer is in remission, and we could not be happier for her!
