Adam Lanza’s father Peter has shared new details about the horrific shooting in Newton, Ct. on Dec. 14, 2012. In a chilling interview, Peter confesses he believes Adam would have killed him ‘in a heartbeat.’
Peter Lanza, the father of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter Adam Lanza, has opened up about the incident that changed his family’s life forever.
Sandy Hook Shooter Shot Mom 4 Times
During the interview, Peter reveals that he believes his son would have killed him without a second thought, and that he believes Adam shot his mom, Nancy Lanza, four times so that each bullet represented one person in their family: His father Peter, his mother Nancy, his brother Ryan, and himself.
“With hindsight, I know Adam would have killed me in a heartbeat, if he’d had the chance. I don’t question that for a minute. The reason he shot Nancy four times was one for each of us: one for Nancy; one for him; one for Ryan; one for me,” Peter reveals in the interview.
Peter also discusses having to precariously plan both Nancy and Adam’s funerals around a media takeout, but refuses to reveal details about how the family laid Adam to rest, saying: “No one knows that. And no one ever will.”
Peter Wants To Trade Places With Victims Families
While speaking about the 26 victims of Adam’s shooting rampage at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, Peter confesses that he has offered to meet with all 26 families if it will offer them any sort of solace. Only two families have taken him up on the offer, and one even told him that they forgave Adam for taking away their loved one.
“A victim’s family member told me that they forgave Adam after we spent three hours talking. I didn’t even know how to respond. A person that lost their son, their only son,” Peter shared. “[...] I would trade places with them in a heartbeat if that could help.”
