Phillip Phillips has a new album coming out and the singer is struggling to keep things together in the wake of its release.
Phillip Phillips, 23, is no stranger to the rigors of the music industry, however in the wake of his new album’s release, he’s still finding it hard to keep his head on straight.
Phillip Phillips: Struggling To Keep Things Together For ‘Darker’ Album
Phillip has been down this road before. The winner of the eleventh season of American Idol in 2012, is no stranger to fame. His coronation song “Home”, released after his win, became the best-selling of all coronation songs for the show. [hl_ndn videoid=”25095143″][hl_ndn videoid=”24987798″]
Additionally, Phillip has already released one album — The World From The Side Of The Moon back in 2012 — so let’s just say he knows what it takes to actually be an american idol.
However, the Albany, GA born singer still finds it hard to deal with some of the setbacks that come with fame as well as some of the material on his new album.
Phillips says it’s “weird” not being able to go back home and spend as much time with his friends and family while he’s been working.
“So you see the people that you love and you care about — [you] kind of see them age a little bit more every time you go,” Phillips said in a statement.
Phillips revealed that he doesn’t even recognize himself in the mirror sometimes. “Each time I go back I kind of look in the mirror and go, ‘wow, where’d that come from?’”
Phillip Explores ‘Darker’ Side In New Album
Phillips is also battling some of the emotions that come with writing some of the more serious material on his new album.
“Everybody goes through different things in their life. Everybody has secrets, you know?” Phillips said. “Some of the songs — I like to put myself in other people’s positions too — and how it would affect me, and that’s how I do a lot of songs as well. Sometimes I might cause it to be dark, you never know.”
What do you think HollywoodLifers? Do you think Phillip will be able to keep his head on straight long enough to release his new album? Leave us your thoughts in the comments.
