The stunning supermodel and coach of ‘The Face’ shared an emotional open letter detailing her experience in the modeling world — and you can read it EXCLUSIVELY right here! See what Lydia had to say about her journey and be sure to tune in to the premiere of season two.
I’m a supermodel, actress and humanitarian – but I’m not one to be summed up or categorized too easily. I have always been drawn to the world of entertainment and self-expression. I dreamt of being an actress because I love the challenge and creative process of bringing a character to life on screen; perhaps that’s why I’ve been immensely successful in my modeling career. Modeling is like acting but in a silent film.
Lydia Hearst — ‘The Face’ Modeling Open Letter:
I expose my innermost emotions so they project clearly into the lens and ultimately through the still photograph. Working in fashion and entertainment has given me the opportunity to travel the world and see places I may never have visited otherwise. I’ve also been fortunate to work with some of the most iconic designers, photographers and models of all time – and I’ve learned important life lessons along the way.
When I was 19, the legendary model and actress Carol Alt told me to stop focusing on the NEXT project, the NEXT opportunity, the NEXT thing – and to live in the NOW. Because if you keep thinking about tomorrow and what might happen next, you will miss out on everything that is happening now. When she said that to me I realized that’s what I had been doing. Her words really got me to change my outlook and appreciate the current moment. And, I have had more success because I haven’t been so worried about what’s going to happen next. I have grown to understand that you can’t control what’s next, and you can only control SOME of what’s happening now. In fashion everything happens and changes so quickly. But it’s important to remember that you should be having fun and enjoying the moment no matter what you’re doing. Take a breath just to look around and be in the NOW.
I am Lydia Hearst.
Be sure to tune in TONIGHT, Mar. 5, as The Face season 2 premieres on Oxygen at 10/9c — and check back next week for another open letter from the coaches!
