In the best version of ‘Let It Go’ we’ve seen yet, Adele Dazeem — err, Idina Menzel — hit the ‘Tonight Show’ to belt out the hit with Jimmy Fallon, The Roots, and some classic elementary school classroom instruments.
After her March 2 Oscar performance was eclipsed by the most epic name-butchering in Academy Awards history, Idina Menzel was given the chance to redeem herself when she brought her hit “Let It Go” to the Tonight Show.
Idina Menzel & Jimmy Fallon ‘Let It Go’ Performance — Too Adorable For Words?
Jimmy Fallon has done his “classroom instruments” bit with The Roots a few times before — and it’s always delightful — but “Let It Go” might just be our new favorite. Not only was the inspirational Frozen hit meant for a family-friendly crowd, but Idina’s voice is just so ridiculously amazing that even Jimmy couldn’t help but smile as she hit the high notes.
Idina faced a slight embarrassment during her big Oscar debut when presenter John Travolta butchered her name — making the entire performance more about that than her amazing voice — so bringing it to the Tonight Show the next day for a redemption performance was definitely the right move. It even fits the inspirational narrative from the song!
What did you think of Idina and Jimmy’s version of “Let It Go,” HollywoodLifers? Did you prefer it to her actual Oscar performance?
