The heartfelt In Memoriam segment of the 2014 Oscars featured great fallen talents such as Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Walker, Harold Ramis, and more. But did the recently fallen ‘The Vampire Diaries’ crew member Sarah Jones make the cut? Find out here.
Tragedy struck The Vampire Diaries family when their beloved camera assistant Sarah Jones was killed suddenly on February 20, when she was hit by a train on the Georgia set of her latest project, Midnight Rider. After the cast and crew championed for her to be featured in the Oscar In Memoriam, HollywoodLife.com is sad to report that she did not make the cut.
Sarah Jones — Oscar ‘In Memoriam’ Segment
Even though Sarah Jones was mentioned briefly at the end of Bette Midler’s beautiful performance, she was not included in the In Memoriam montage that displayed the many great talents we lost this year. Although she was best known for her work as a camera assistant on The Vampire Diaries, she also worked on multiple television movies and short films.
HollywoodLife.com is sad to share that although Sarah received a bumper at the very end of Bette Midler’s performance asking viewers to see a gallery of photos on the Oscar website, she was unfortunately not included in the full-length In Memoriam montage with the rest of the fallen stars.
For those of you that don’t know, Sarah was tragically killed when she was accidentally hit by a train while working on the set of her latest project, Midnight Rider.
Sarah Jones Mourned By Multiple Casts & Crew
Sarah worked for a number of television productions including Blue Bloods and The Vampire Diaries. However, it’s The Vampire Diaries cast and crew that fought for Sarah to be remembered in the 2014 Oscar In Memoriam segment. Nina Dobrev tweeted a link to an online petition on Sarah’s behalf, which quickly accumulated over 21,000 signatures in less than 24 hours. At the time this article went live, the signatures were at over 61,000.
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — Would you have preferred Sarah be featured in the montage, or are you happy with the bumper she received? Let us know below!
