Cate Blanchett Wins Best Actress Oscar
What a night! We’re sure that Cate Blanchett is ready to celebrate now that she has been crowned Best Actress for her performance in Blue Jasmine at the 2014 Academy Awards. The actress was up against heavy hitters such as Amy Adams, Judi Dench, Meryl Streep, and Sandra Bullock, but ultimately Cate took home the golden statue to keep for herself.
“Julia[Roberts] hashtag SUCK IT,” joked while addressing the other nominees during her Best Actress acceptance speech. Her heartfelt speech continued: “The world is round, people! Thank you to my mum, to my sister, to my brother, to my three glorious sons – I would not be standing here without you. To my husband Andrew, you are a legend.”
The Biggest Night In Film
It was also a big night for many other stars! Lupita Nyong’o won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her work in 12 Years A Slave, and Jared Leto took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club. There were also incredible performances from Pink, U2, and Idina Menzel.
Films like Gravity and The Great Gatsby were lucky enough to take home multiple awards each!
