‘The Voice’ has always made for great TV, but just one night into the blind auditions, I already can’t get enough of Season 6. Keep reading to find out why this round is going to be the best one yet!
Ever since its record-breaking launch into primetime, The Voice has had a hot crop of judges, cutthroat competition, and the best format of all reality singing competitions — I mean, did somebody say Blind Auditions? Battle Rounds? Steals!? But following their 2013 Emmy win, Season 6 is stealing the spotlight; prepped to become the best season yet!
5 Reasons ‘The Voice’ Season 6 Is the Best Season Ever
1. Shakira and Usher are in the full swing of things, and they’re not afraid to flaunt it.
It takes one season to get acclimated, but it takes two to reach perfection, and that’s pretty much what Shakira and Usher have done. Both artists only need one name to define them, and for good reason. Shakira has already taken the competition to a new level, swaying contestants with her giant social media following and her new zest for life a la motherhood. And Usher? Well, he’s already flashed his abs, done sit ups on stage, taken out his Grammy award, and moonwalked on national TV.
The heat was on Usher and Shakira last night, but “Bla-dam” (is that a thing?) were still having fun jabbing at each other — on and off screen. The dudes swapped Twitter accounts to live-tweet the #VoiceTakeover last night. I never thought Blake could possibly outdo his own amazingly hilarious alcohol-induced tweets, but there’s no denying this gem from Blake: “@adamlevine is so good looking #VoiceFact”
3. The teen contestants have more power than I knew was humanly possible.
Seriously, how do those big voices come out of those tiny bodies? 19-year-old Christina Grimmie opened the show with a showstopping version of Miley Cyrus‘ “Wrecking Ball.” Although it wasn’t as eye-popping as Miley’s nude video, my eyes were still glued to the screen. Then fellow teen Bria Kelly went head-to-head with Christina when she stunned all four judges with a powerhouse rendition of “Steamroller Blues.”
4. Did I mention the talent?
Forget about the teens (well, not really) because all of the competitors are insanely, crazy good this year. From T.J. Wilkins‘ soulful “Bennie and the Jets” performance to Dawn & Hawkes‘ lovable, smile-inducing duet, Season 6 already has so much variety. Even the artists who were voted off last night were great! 16-year-old Tanner Linford was super impressive, especially for his size, but the crop of talent is so stellar this year, not everyone can make the cut.
5. Adam Levine is now the Sexiest Man Alive, so there’s that.
Need I say more? I have to admit, I wasn’t feeling Adam‘s slicked hair in last night’s premiere, but let’s be honest — the man can do no wrong. People got it right, and even contestant Jake Worthington knows it. The country crooner ultimately chose Blake to be his coach, but he told Adam that his aunt thinks he is the sexiest being on the Earth. I like this kid!
HollywoodLifers, what was your favorite part of last night’s blind auditions premiere?
